Im finding that the mini-site(s) for my typos are returning the approx same number of dollars inspite of lower click thru rates, as opposed to parked sites which have higher click-thru but lower payouts. Any ideas on how to improve this site. much appreciated.

I think you need to look at moving the adverts....they need to be embedded into the content and such, not slapped above it.

Yes, too much adsense on the top, put one at the bottom for visitors that actually scroll down.

Problem I see with minisites vs parked sites, is that Google pays much lower for adsense publishers than they pay for their content network (parking sites are part of content network).

Adsense publishers and content network are the same thing surely..?

Nice concept on the mini site jlaine.. :)

Sorry, I ment Parking companies are part of google's search partners not content network.

Jlaine, Thanks for the feedback. I agree that parking companies are Google/Yahoo search partners but I found some of them paying 3-4cents for clicks, whereas mini-sites with adsense generate 7-8cents. Even though the percentage of clicks in the mini-site is lower, but not as low at 1/2 as compared to parking sites. I found parkednames.com to pay well but their templates dont have the 1 click format, leading to very very poor conversions. I guess its a compromise for me, for now, unless I get a better solution to increase the pay-thru's I get. Any other feedback appreciated

I think you should add more content.
When a visitor sees your site, he or she will see just the ads and may be discouraged to proceed further.
I also think that the contents should be in the top and the ads more discretely integrated.

If you are looking to increase your CTR, here are my 2 cents.

I think the current blue ad titles predominantly stand out as ads.

Firstly as regards your ad unit colors. My recommendations..
For the 336x280 ad below the video screen.

Border = "Your Page Background Color or FFFFFF"
Title = "008000" or a lighter green shade to blend with the cricket pitch color.
Background = "Your Page BG Color or FFFFFF"
Text = "Black 000000"
URL = "Black 000000"

For the 336x280 ad in between text..
Border = "Your Page Background Color or FFFFFF"
Title = "Try the color light brown or the same color as the starting text" ICC World Cup 2007"
Background = "Your Page BG Color or FFFFFF"
Text = "Black 000000"
URL = "Black 000000"

Alternatively you could use the same light brown color for the titles on both 336 units.

I would also avoid using the 120x600 skyscraper on the left. I would rather recommend you retaining only 2 ad units of 336x280 in the same positions as now. That is, one just below the video screen, and one in between the text. I mean, your current placements for the rectangular ads are fine. Just try changing the colors and doing away with the skyscraper unit on the left.

I hope these tips increase your CTR. Good luck :)

Varon, Thanks for taking the time in helping me with the ad-design. I'll post the results in a few days to see if I notice higher conversions. Your feedback is much appreciated.
Globefrog, Thx to you too. It looks like the Saturday's game will be the preview of the finals.

How did you get your adsense accout?

I want mini-sites too but I have no adsense account. I created a simple website myself but google rejected my application saying the site is still under construction. I'm not a webmaster. I'm a domainer and it taken ages for me to learn web designing. I'm stuck without an adsense account.

try creating a blog using blogger.com. The blog has the option for using adsense. So once you get your adsense account, use the ad-sense pages to generate the adsense javascript for your mini-sites.

Thank you for your suggestion. A few hours ago I searched for the easiest way to get an adsense account and I have come exactly with the same way that you mentioned.

For the last few hours I'm writing like crazy on my new blog. I'm already done. I will wait for google to get the pages listed before I apply.
