Yes you have seen a few of my Mr domains lately. I am not and will not go crazy! I asked a question about how a domain like mistercarwash.com compares to mrcardetail.com. I prefer the former, but it isn't available! I can think of a business that can use MrCarDetail.com! If one of you asked for an appraisal on this I would say . . .

reseller would pay hand reg through very very very low XXX (maybe). And that might be a reseller that has an end user in mind! To the end user I can see mid XXX through low XXXX unless a bigger business wants to brand MrCarDetail.com . . . hey we can dream right:)

I see no value in this one. You would have to pay me to take it off your hands I'm afraid. "Mr car detail" means nothing to anyone. Why would anyone brand their business or site that?

Don't you have several hundred domains at the moment you're trying to offload and make break even on at least? STOP registering for a while. Don't let this become an addiction that takes over you, please.

When starting out in domaining treat it as a fun hobby but don't get carried away.

Haha, well we do not have to worry about me paying you to take it off my hands!! I do appreciate the feedback. Maybe you have never had your car detailed?

I do think domaining can be very addictive. I have definitely slowed down on hand reg because I do agree with and share your perspective that it can be consumptive and overwhelming.

I do want to say this as a part of the broader conversation, I do think there are times we can become too rigid in how we think. I am not suggesting a right versus wrong dichotomy, I just think inflexible thinking limits us. Below is a list of top 25 car wash businesses. If people are being honest, many on the list could get the appraisal you just gave me. What I think will happen is this . . ."Oh no these are great domains that even Stevie Wonder could see had value." Clearly number 1 we ALL love! Ofcourse you and others could say MrCarDetail.com sucks just like many of the ones below . . . they got lucky. Coach Winterstein use to say, "Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good." Ill take luck:)

The majority of those domains you listed are still terrible.

I personally think it is silly of you to say "I'll take luck". Domaining shouldn't be a gamble. Do you know why? Because gamblers will always lose in the end. A good domainer needs to have a healthy balance in their portfolio and only a small percentage of that should ever be speculative names whereby your liquid domains can cover the costs of the others.

When registering or buying a domain name DO NOT think "maybe one person or company somewhere in the world will want this", because that is a very risky way to consider investing in domains. You want to look at a domain name and think "there really could be a LOT of people interested in buying this one day", because only demand provides value.

Clearly being good at something is desirable. I think that the online format may be hindering what I meant to say. When I said Id rather be lucky than good, I was trying to be funny and light hearted. I imagine most people that are successful in whatever realm they work have had some "lucky" breaks along the way. And to the people that would say they have not, I would say we see life so differently, good luck to you!

As all of these businesses have multiple locations, and it's obvious their domain names are based on their established business name, not on domains that they bought to name or brand their business. All you have to do now, is find a car detail business out there (somewhere) that matches your domain you can try/hope to sell to.

Justifying how a domain 'could be used' is self assuring for buying it, just not a reason someone else would want to. That'll sink in after a few years of wasted renewals.

This is one of the most honest and important advice I have seen on NamePros. Luckily or (Unlucky :xf.rolleyes:),
I usually don't have much budget and that keeps me from going on a domain registering spree.

From what I have learned, I also believe that one should register a domain that has a broad appeal and vast potential market. So in my opinion one should resist from targeting a small or very specific niche,
Of course, unless you are a master persuader and can make anyone to buy stuff from you.

Those are the top of the top of car washes so it definitely makes sense that they have multiple locations to conduct business! Maybe I am missing the point, it does happen from time to time!! :)

And I can totally feel the renewal pain that is coming for me!!

I think there are multiple ways to try and make money with domain names. I actually really like the reminder to be broad in scope when thinking about domains and businesses that can use them. I don't think MrCarDetail.com is a stretch to think would be a great fit for a car detailing business.

I do have some terrrrrrerible names. So bad in fact I hope I can look back and ask what in the world was I thinking?? Lol. I just don't think MrCarDetail.com is one of them.

I think the pushback on this domain is just surprising me.

And your last point about justifying a reg is spot on. Thank you.

Agreed! The community has been rock solid here. I do appreciate it. I think that all the constructive criticism has been very helpful. Imagine where I would be without the community . . . lol worse off for sure!

If you are justifying your own registrations with your data go ahead.

My value on this name - is Registration Fee (.99) if you have regged it at Godaddy, good you will only be loosing .99 cents.

No value here !

I can register many names which are way better than yours, but these registrations are useless, unless you are able to sell. In the reseller market, these names are like 10 to 20 bucks that too if you can get lucky.

I have been there n done that, save money, and buy something in the reseller market, dont reg names just because you are creative thinker and thinking this or that can be possible, one tip i give you ---- nEVER REGISTER name just because something that you do or job occupation --- Unless you are going to develop that name.

Otherwise, you will be dropping these names soon. Go for reseller market, and dont waste your time and money on these regs.

Thank you for the rationale behind your feedback. I really value that and appreciate your time in doing so!! Speaking of my occupation, time for a shower so I don't stink at school the way I am here;)

I used to write big long posts after my registrations back in 2007 on other forums like you do , silly, but true, save time and money and move on in reseller market buy LLLL or and work way up, these are useless stuff what you are doing --- its not just regs -- -its just this time -- is going to start to wear on you, and then you will get tired, and never to be found again, dont stay up late nights, trust me, move in reseller market, if you want to succeed.

All the best
