I like comparetheodds as it makes sense for all betting markets. You could start with one market, say soccer, and build up from there. There are loads of feeds available, some free e.g. look at Bari91.com under the webmaster tab.

I think these have value to those in the sports-betting arena. I am not a pro-domainer but comparetheodds must be worth low $xxx to an end user who wants to dev or drive traffic to another site. Much lower to domainers tho.

I agree HorseTips is a great name. You have to really look at your gambling advertising options (I have no experience in this arena), but it seems it's still strong. It's begging Development.

For compare the odds I think there are many development options. IE Which casinos have the best odds for your favorite game, etc. With this you can probably advertise gambling destinations Vegas, Atlantic city, etc.

I like it better as a general horse raising and training tips site. But the horse racing money may be alot better money use though. The horse racing people really like "racing" to be in there too. So hard to have real time sensitive and good betting tips. The best tips are leaked out just before the race not 3 days before. mid xxx

These guys just want to buy it cheap lol! If I owned it I would sell it for $750 at the MINIMUM. Tips domains like this make great blogs and are becoming very hard to find.

You could price it higher and just wait to find the right buyer.

Thanks for your comments guys. All well below expectations though, as horsetips.com was purchased for £8k and comparetheodds.com for £2k, so I'd be looking for a mark up on that at least!

Johnname - not too sure what you know about horse racing, but the best tips aren't leaked just before the race - these are actually the worst as they usually come from people who bet on numerous races just before they start. The best tips are planned for weeks with running horses in unfavourable conditions, but knowing that it is suited to a race planned ahead for a few weeks, then 2/3 days before the race when looking at the opposition confirming the tip. On the day of the race, these type of tips can be smashed from the likes of 25/1 into 2/1 and canter in, but they are quite rare (unless you have more than a handful of contacts).

My initial idea for horsetips.com was to create a community blog reviewing service/systems etc on an affiliate basis and actually reporting each service/systems results so people know which are genuinely good and which aren't. The idea for comparetheodds.com is straightfoward - an odds comparrison service with affilation to each sporstbook.

I've simply not had the time to go into any of these ideas though due to other commitments, but will happily sell if the price is right.

Tips coming 3 weeks before the race is to me stratgy and planing guess you can call them tips. I guess you got to "know someone in the know" to get the kind of tips I am talking about. I did know someone long before the internet that drove 2 hrs to the track when his "buddy" gave him a call. Good luck on your names.

horsetips has amazing potential especially for the UK market. I would monetise it by offering a TXT or premium rate phone service where people can get horse racing tips. £1 a txt once a week or a £2-5 phone call. I would print leaflets and give them out in bookmakers. I would let people post their own tips on the website. I would use someone who knows alot about horses to provide the tips.

Amazing site. Plus you could have a subdomain for greyhounds.

Compare the odds is amazing too and could function as a self updating odds comparer site for all betting especially football etc im sure the big bookmakers would support you on this.

Other businesses have marketed themselves as comparetheXXXX like insurance companies etc. I dont have time to research it much sorry but well done for getting a great domain. Im a little confused as you suggested you puchased it for £8K.. I was so impressed with your horsetips domain i bought the .info

Maybe an Australian online bookmaker for the horse racing or small to medium sized bookmaking investor - Check out businessballs.com negotiation section b4 you approach. You should be able to get the result you desire if you keep a clear goal fixed in your mind. Best of luck if you still have the domain.
