Please Appraise e32012.com, e3-2012

Hi everyone!

This past week I had the diea of buying domain names of events followed by a year.

So as you can see I purchased e32012.com

I have seen the Gamespot has E32010.com, E3-2010.com, E3-2011.com and E32011.com all pointing to there site.

After seeing that and seeing how much traffic and news the E3 events get at this time of year I am wondering how much this domain is worth?

Also if possible could you tell me how much this domain is worth now and how much it would be worth in lets say May or April next year when the event is only a month away.

Thanks

Kevin

Edit: So I am supposed to reply through here right not a new comment? Just wondering I am new here.

E3 is a massive gaming event held every year since 1995. For more info see http://www.e3expo.com/

Anyways I'm not sure but seeing how Microsoft, Sony na dNintendo all annually attend the event to announce new products such as the new xbox, wii ect... I dont see it going away anytime soon. Do you think there is any value in it?

I don't think there would be any leagal trouble would there? As gamespot owns the other domains and no one owns any pre 2009. So is there actually any legal risk?

I really have zero knowledge on this, whats an E3 event? Why didnt they reg all E3 year names for the next 20 years? Might be E3 means little to them in a couple of years(from onset of idea to reg). It is interesting though but I want to say regfee without this one unpredictable enduser, goodluck Add comments in orig post to avoid 24 bumping

E3 is a big event. E3 = Electronic Entertainment Expo.

But you'll be running into copyright troubles. Domain is worthless.

It's not a copyright issue (contents) but a trademark issue.
There is no real value in domains like that.
Who is going to buy them ?
How do you develop them without potentially infringing ?
How do you monetize ?

On top of that, the domains are time-sensitive: after 2012 e32012.com will definitely be no longer relevant.

Well I'm assuming GameSpot won't get in trouble for it because they're advertising the event. GameSpot is one of the largest (if not largest) online gaming sites. They're providing publicity for E3, and I'm sure they're allowing them to as they do it every year along with other sites like IGN.

Also, as sdsinc said, the domain isn't really worth anything after the year is over. That's probably why nobody owns the pre 2009 domains since they're really not relevant.

You see the markmonitor.com referenced in the whois of the GS redirects? That a company that goes after cybersquaters. I dont know if they consider those names squating or or just protecting there self. But its a clue you will probale be contacted about these names as 2012 gets closer. My guess is future years are not reg because they know they dont have to reg them, they can get them on demand.

2013-16 in .com are available, I really think you dont have anything here.

They have marks on E3 EXPO and E3 ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO. I didnt check just E3 as thats too time consuming.

You just reg it I would try to get a refund or credit, goodluck

As above, try to get a credit.

Even if it's not illegal, after 2012 it's a "dead" domain.
