BORED.org

What kind of appraisal would you give Bored.org? (I own it)

Also, do you think there would be much difference in value from .net?

Thanks in Advance!

Wow.
A highly searched singular word TLD that's been regg'd for over 8 years with all extensions taken and I get low xx and a bit boring. Glad I asked.

Thanks for the relevant reply droplister.

I can handle people low balling the domain but if you go low $xx you simply don't know what you're talking about.

For clarification I'm asking for your opinion of a domain market appraisal, not what you would pay.

Don't get offended by appraisals. Some might see it as $xx,xxx and others as $xx. Not everyone can give an educated appraisal.

It's a GREAT 5 letter word, something everyone says at least once daily. bored.net could fetch you and easy late $x,xxx or early $xx,xxx to the right buyer. The .org is limited but it could still be used for a website that acts as an 'organiztion to stop boredom.' I see early to mid $x,xxx for your domain.

Hi,

I would agree with your last post, low $$ is too low. Back in 2001, Lazy.net sold for $1,990.

There is alliteration in the bored.org, and seems like a name that could be developed and resold. A site about the opposite of bored. What do people do when they are bored?

Sometimes a name can be worth more developed. A name can be worth its weight in reg/buyers fee and then some in the interim with ppc income alone or until the right buyer comes along. Appraising is highly subjective at times, and I have learned not to listen to one persons advice, but to trust your instincts.

Best of luck!

:)

Develop the name into a forum or game site.

Thanks for the great replies.

I didn't mean to come off as harsh and honestly I wasn't offended. Just surprised is all. I don't understand why some people bother replying.

I'm definitely in this name for development. I know the target audience and I know several ways it could be monetized. What I'm not sure of however, is the best approach to take.

Thanks again for the insight. ;)

I sold reallybored.net for $160, but it had some traffic.. In fact, I sold it in a few hours because it was very underpriced.
Bored.org seems really good to be, I'd say its worth $1500-$2000 But you could make a lot more money with it by creating a entertainment site.

I'd say $1200 is a realistic reseller value.

Don't fret...it happens to all of us at some point here. The first name I asked for appraisals on here was for NewStars.com and I got "mid-high $xx unless developed" by almost everyone and started angrily replying with mouth agape. And why not after winning it in a hard-fought drop-auction for $1200 and despite OVT and taken extensions indicating a lot more value in the name as a generic name let alone its brandability. That has still stuck with me after all this time, and about all I can say is different strokes for different folks...people provide opinions of value based on their own experiences and views, and they're exactly that: opinions. We don't need to agree with them, and I too wouldn't agree with $xx...I'd say high $xxx at least for that name...the only thing holding it back is .org and that it doesn't really have business application. It would be best for a laid-back site with online games. I sold SixDegrees.org over a year and a half ago for $2,000, but I would consider that a freak occurence to say the least, and generally .org names don't sell quite that well. Good luck!

BTW- I meant to type low xxx and never noticed til I re-read the thread.. as others say, it's subjective. I can't determine what others might be willing to pay with any accuracy. I can only go by my feeling that .org hurts this a bit IMO and it's not a dictionary word I personally would be interested in.

In the end, a domain is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.. I think it's worth low xxx but for myself, I wouldn't pay low xx for it..

Great name, it definitely can be sold for high $xxx - low $xxxx to an end-user. The .org extension hurts a little, but I've seen some great .org sales.

i'd say it's worth $16,191.10 :hehe:

Clearly BORED.org is more valueable than BORED.net

.Net is usually more valuable than the .org extension, especially for Web hosting/internet/network related domains since .net means network.

But, for something like embarass.org, or bored .org since these words are appropriate for the .org extension- they are more valuable. In some case I would argue that the .org is just as or more valuable than the .com even, since these names are perhaps "related" more to the .org (although I do beleive that embarrass is more relevant to the .org than bored- but I hope you can see my point).

This is coming from someone with alot of experience in this.

I appraise this valuable domain for $2,600

midxxx - $1xxx as reseller price

High $xxxx - low $xxxxx for end user.

At least the domain is short, meaningful, and fits .org perfectly. Also, easily brandable.

Good luck on the sale, m8
