Hi.

On my video search (www.sixsearch.net) i want to be able to play the videos, but there are too many different formats, and videos can be different sizes etc... so I wanted to make a flash document that would act as a video player, like youtube.com's player or google video's player. I realise that they host the videos themselves, but thats the kinda player i want.

now, I can design it and all, but I don't know where to start with the script. Firstly I need to "get" the video in the script. Now I thought about something like "<embed src="flash.swf?vid=http://website.com/video.wmv">"? But then I don't know how to take that file and "play" it in the flash object. Also, I don't know how to make controls for it, etc...

I don't have much money and don't really want you to go and make me one (it would be nice though, lol). I am looking for tutorials really, or some information, maybe some code :)

I would also like to make a flash document for images, because all the images are different sizes, and I don't know how to use php to resize them.

Thanks for any help
Tom

i would think that C++ compiler would be more usefull as it supports more features and would be better suited for fiddling with file formats.

flash plays flv files. Youtube and such convert the uploaded movies into flv's and just use flash to display them. Making a video player is quite trivial in flash, actually, once you have the video's in flv format.

You should focus your time on figuring out how to convert video files to flv format upon being uploaded first.

They aren't uploaded though, they are taken off other sites. Basically, its like an image search, but for videos. So the vids are hosted on other sites, and I just want to play them on my site.

How would I use C++ online? Would it work? Could I embed it into a html document?
