Okay, so would like some honest input and discussion on my domain:

PlanUpgrade.com

The generic phrase: 'Plan Upgrade' is used by almost every online business with any type of subscription based plan.

Most notably, every cell service provider: AT&T, Verizon, Boost Mobile etc continally offers their 'plan upgrade' as an upsell to their existing clients.

So, with this type of potential very deep pocketed end-user pool in mind I was shocked to see this domain available, not taken in other extensions etc.

As a defensive play, I also hand regged the plural: PlanUpgrades.com

I would like an honest appraisal of this one or at least why it may or may not be valuable.

Thank you!

Just to add to my confusion,

The word 'upgrade' at the end of domain is a relatively high-value keyword, according to Namebio

The word 'plan' at the beginning is extreme high-value.

The number of potential end users and the budgets of these potential end users is astronomical.

These are all qualities I *believe* we should look at when deciding to purchase a domain (even at the nominal reg fee)

Yet, PlanUpgrade.com is not regged in other extensions.

This domain has never been sold before according to NameBio.

So, I am confused whether I have found a true diamond in the rough? Is my criteria for evaluating names missing the mark?

It would really help my process to get your input.

This tells you. A LOT.

Edit: There is no business called "plan upgrade". Businesses buy domains for $$$$ (or individuals but for business not for a hobby, that's $50).

This is a dead fish in the water.

โ€œPโ€ comes before the โ€œUโ€

I like this one;
Reciprocal of โ€œUpgrade Planโ€

Who is existing business; โ€œPlanUpgradeโ€?
A nobody. Maybe intresting them to acquire;
But you DONT need them.

i like this one; and would NOT drop.

I appreciate the reply, but tend to disagree.

Let me explain ( please debate because this is how I learn ๐Ÿ˜)

I AGREE that there is no business called 'Plan Upgrade' , however that was not the point.

There are thousands of search results that include the phrase 'plan upgrade"

At&T Plan Upgrade, Verizon Plan Upgrade, iPhone Plan Upgrade, Boost Mobile Plan Upgrade, Zoom Plan Upgrade and on and on....

Why wouldn't one of these companies want the generic 'PlanUpgrade.com' for a redirect to their current plan upgrade page (at a minimum) or even as a site to develop?

In general, I do not always think it matters that the term is not regged in other extensions. But would like to discuss further.....

First off, I DO appreciate the reply, but I honestly cannot tell if you are serious or making fun of my domain.."

I tend to think that it's the latter, as indicated by your "P" "U" comment.

That 's fine if you are, I am trying to learn how to valuate domains better and if I have to take some abuse to accomplish that I am fine with it!

They build sites by brand, e.g. "Verizon" and not how you think.

Yes, twiki, I get that and it is very possible my thinking is incorrect.

It is clear from your responses that you probably disagree with the potential I think this domain has and that's fine.

But I am trying to use this name as a case study for the valuation metrics I am using to evaluate the potential of a domain.

So, you are not saying anything I do not know, but still feel you are missing my point.

Let me give you a real world example from a successful domainer on this site, @NameBuyer.com whose posts I have learned a lot from.

One of his successful sales was for a generic 3-word .com: MetroAutoSales.com

Why was he able to sell this domain for such a handsome profit? BECAUSE many businesses used that term.

I am trying to emulate that strategy and, I admit, I am not 100% sure if I am comparing apples to apples and doing it successfully.

Perhaps these potential end users would only promote their services using their name brand.

I am not sure.

Thank you for participating in my thread. Thanks added

Still looking for others' input here.

NameWorth values this domain as a SuperPremium with a valuation of: $14,500

GoDaddy's free appraisal tool estimates the value at just over $1300.

I noticed that many domains sell between these two tool evaluations.

Of course, many domains never sell and some far exceed what domain valuation tools predict.

Still looking for more detailed input on this domain...
