Picked up this domain from a backorder ,what are your thoughts .

I'm assuming Plano is the city in Texas.

I think the domain is short and sweet, but it serves a very limited audience. This is what I believe brings down the value of this domain. Also, I'm not sure why anyone would visit this (future) site when there are hundreds of other dating sites that serve the entire country.

From a business perspective, you have to look at the potential of the domain. Out of the 270K population, how many of those people will the visit the site, and then out of those people, how many of them will lead to sales?

Thanks for your replies. I didn't relaid that plano was a place called Plano. I thought it was platonic dating ?

Any other ideas , i have just setup a PL dating site for now.

I don't see how you get platonic from plano... two different words.

I would definitely not use "platonic". Plano is a very large suburb of Dallas, and I can tell you that it would be a good local dating site if you could make sure that everyone on the site is actually from Plano, Texas.

I live in the Dallas area.

What I have also seen is people put small signs in the ground advertising the local website. It would work if you were to have someone place signs or advertising in Plano, Texas at intersections or advertise locally in the local Plano newspaper or on a billboard in Plano.

Youre really stretching there.. plain old = plain old or plain ol', not plano. And who would brand their business as "plain old" anything? If anything, you giving this man false hopes.
