Hey guys,

Didn’t find such thread at NP, maybe it’s time to start it?
I think .pl is a great extension and the market is growing!

Maybe someone of you would be interested in this extension, so let’s discuss it here :) Sure, if anybody wants it.

Talking about me, I’m in this extension for 2 weeks, got some names (mainly backordered). Yesterday got my first enduser sale.
Two names I’ve backordered sorbenty dot pl and sorbenty dot com.pl (means sorbents - each for 8-10 euro) I’ve sold for 630 euro. I think it’s nice :)

As for now I use:

ppd.pl and dropped.pl (here I have better results)

I think there is few more, but in my opinion these are most popular.

.PL is a good domain because it's very very popular locally. Just like .CZ, .SK, not sure about .HU and .RO but wouldn't be surprised if there's value there as well. Just travel through the former East Bloc a while and you notice the local ccTLDs by far overpower .COM, almost all local sites use their own ccTLD rather than a gTLD. Local search engines even still are more commonly used than Google in some of these countries. .EU is sometimes seen as well, but by far the local ccTLDs are the most popular. So surely .PL has value, just like the other extentions of former East Bloc countries.

Note though that .PL has a complex structure. You got .pl, .com.pl, ... but also .szczecin.pl, .warszawa.pl, .gdansk.pl, ... So in addition to second and third level registrations with the common .pl and .com.pl, most major cities have their own extention as well under which you can register domains.
Bit like .us used to be when you could still register yourname.austin.tx.us (not sure if in the US these are still available, in Poland they are quite commonly used)

.PL.......Anyone from Poland here?

How is the market for .pl domains on english. I found some solid sales, but how certain is that you will be able to sell .pl domain on english for solid amount?

I own two word domain, on english, in .pl, and that term has more than half million exact searches each month. Estibot appraised it on $3100 even it is .pl. Should i expect $x.xxx sale without much effort?

I have been to Poland a few times and several of my co-workers are Polish. Eastern Europe is a place where local ccTLD's are still prefered above the .com ; .com is not king there :) This counts for .cz, .sk, .ru, and yes also .pl

I am not sure if English keywords would do well, probably depending how famous the word is. Mind that not too many Polish people speak English well, so it has to be a very common word which was adopted by other languages. In general there is a lot of potential in .pl because it is much more widely used in Poland than .com or others, however to have real high value you need to bypass the language barrier.

In general, the Eastern European market is big though because they prefer their ccTLD's over the generic extention (only exception seems to be Belarus) ; the language barrier is the one thing that domainers need to bypass somehow. But .cz, .sk, .pl, etc do have big value.

i had the same doubt and i was told that english words dont use to be very valuable.

Depending how internationalised the word is. Terms like "computer", "airline", "shopping", "travel" etc are so common in other languages as well that they almost became part of the language. But unless you got a universally used english word like that... The benefit of Eastern Europe is that their local ccTLD is very widely used. The downside is that people still don't speak English that well, and you need to grasp at least a bit of the local languages (be it Polish, Czech, Slowak, Russian, ...) to really cash in on the popularity of the local ccTLD's.

It is a good keyword, and recognizible even to the ones who dont speak english.
This is my first domain in .pl extension, so i am still not aware of market. Will do some additional research.

If it's a keyword adopted in other languages and thus familiar to those who don't speak English as well, then it has value for sure. As I said, .pl is very widely used, if you bypass the linguistic issue then there's some good profit possible.

As for the English words + .pl extension there is some market for it as long as you provide a nice and brandable keyword. You can look for some examples below to have a better "feel" of the market for English names in Poland (all sales from this year):

HandyShop.pl 6.200zł
CheapTickets.pl 1.110zł
Direct.pl 6.100zł
Wirecard.pl 5.958zł
VisualStudio.pl 2.500zł
Ecolight.pl 2.000zł
GreenEnergy.pl 5.250zł
GreenMedia.pl 2.684zł
Moto24.pl 10.000zł
MotoCenter.pl 5.490zł
EuroImport.pl 1.200zł
SkatePark.pl 8.540zł
What.pl 3.294zł
Alternate.pl 3.088zł
Company.pl 1.525zł
E-Business.pl 5.175zł
Teach.pl 2.800zł
Pass.pl 5.000zł
Passion.pl 2.200zł
BalticPark.pl 3.230zł
Think.pl 3.360zł

Some bigger sales:
Tools.pl 10.000€
Broker.pl 40.000zł
Natural.pl 20.000zł - sold to a pharmaceutic company
Poker.com.pl 25.500zł - estimated value for poker.pl is 1 mil. and poker-online.pl was sold for 15.800zł in 2009
fresh.pl - bought by a GSM company. The price is undisclosed but it's rumoured 100.000+ zł
AirTickets.pl 4.000€
Dolby.pl 19.300zł
Vision.com.pl 18.300zł
ancestry.pl 6.000£ (sold in 2009)

1$ = ~3zł (PLN)
1€ = ~4zł (PLN)

Just remember most of it has been sold to end users and such domains usually can be bought for much lower prices on D2D market.

btw. I own for example
serenity*pl - 0 offers for 1 year
easylearning*pl - 1 offer for 1 year
hathayoga*pl - 0 offers
zed*pl - 0 offers

As you see it's not so easy to sell such domains.

I've sold two names of Kokoro list, so really like to invest in english keyword + .pl.

is there any simillar list for .com.pl with english keywords?
english keywords +.com.pl are mostly worth 10% of .pl value.
