I have found some good domain names available on .pl extension. I know its very less used TLD so worth is almost zero. But my question is that if I have a really cool domain name then can it be worthed more than registration fees with .pl extension ?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It's like other ccTLDs, domains should be relevant to the local audience. So Polish keywords would usually be best, or at least English keywords that are commonly used there.
.pl is a strong TLD in Poland. If you don't live there, or have no business there, then there is little interest to owning .pl domains. For the purpose of resale, you need to pick domains carefully.

just for an example if I buy USA.pl would be worthed anything better than registration fee ?

usa.pl would be very nice one - travel, visas, immigration, shipping, trade, import/export affairs etc and of course USA is recognizable by anyone in Poland

However random English keyword would not be of any value if not widely used/recognized there as sdsinc already pointed out.
Even if it has great commercial value in English speaking countries.

For example, Mortgage.ru has no value for Russian end-users as no one in Russia uses/knows what it means.
Not sure if this particular example works for Poland too but you got the idea - you need to know if/how English words are used there to pick the right ones. If you don't speak Polish or never lived there I doubt that's possible to arrange except for clear winners like USA etc

imho

As Poland got really close to the West, taking a look at english keywords in .pl domain makes a bit more sense than it has been couple years ago. Recent example: wearables.pl, sold for >17k pln ($4k).

Would you consider buying .pl now?

Maybe - fake.
It is for sale still...

Polish.pl is worth investing in...
English.pl - waste of money in 95-99% of cases, Polish endusers don't buy them.

This sale has been reported to occur 27.01.2016 at aftermarket.pl. Probably D2D. It's on confirmed on the sale list for all .pl domains. Thanks for pointing out, though.

Thank you for opinion. What do you think about NNN.pl and geographical-touristic-names.pl?

It was just registered in January, check WHOIS...

And I can't say anything about the Chinese demand on NNN.pl, sorry.

This is the source of domains sold on polish markets I use: cenydomen(dot)pl. Couple of my transactions are there and I assume it collects data from real transactions. Wearables is a legitimate keyword with some buzz around and this could be d2d transaction to push it to spotlight.

$4K-D2D for English.PL???
LOL

Natural fake.

And I'm not sure that you have any chances to sell even Polish.PL for $4K to another domainer.

Thank you for your opinions. Polish market grows and can produce unexpected outcomes, sometimes.

Regarding wearables, this transaction can be tracked not only by auction details, but also organization that invested in the domain. Please visit for details transaction summary on portal reporter goo (dot) gl/Xa9bu8 (buyers details included).

I'm looking at the list of sold .pl domains and see lots of >10k transations and many of these domains are still for sale.

I know that it grows for many years... and know all these stats-resources... nothing new for me.
Also I live near Poland...

But fakes are fakes.

And Yes, sometimes there are high sales of .PL-domains, but usually Polish endusers buy them for no more than $1,XXX.

I agree. Only few domains get sold for more than >$1k and I have to admit, there is a luck factor included as well. It makes investing in .pl domains difficult to evaluate and to predict outcome.

Do you have any examples from your experience, of such transactions to endusers?

.PL is not in my focus...
All good Polish keywords were taken many years ago...
To register 2-words or English is not interesting for me absolutely.

I know its very less used TLD so worth is almost zero.

.pl is 16 most popular domain extension in the world and 11 in the ranking of country domains, so it's not very less used.

USA.pl can be worth a lot of money (min $xxx.xxx). In the USA living 10m people of Polish origin and Polish peoples have a fondness for USA. So I think this is not good example. Most if not all keyword domains that can be worth something are registered.

I am polish and have .pl but I do not trade this domains. Poland started very early, maybe as the first country in Europe, with a cheap internet connection service for everyone in 1994. Already 1999 there were people making sometimes $$$$ amounts with internet domains trade. As I have a focus on shortest type domains there are practically no chances to get a LLL, LL or NN. One chars are allowed but of course only in your dreams (would be nice for me to have a polish one ;) but even Apple did not get A.pl ). And similarly like in other CEE countries (Czech, Ukraine, Russia) there is a quite active scene of local domainers. Also this domains are really mostly of interest only if You come from there or run business there. The renewal of .PL is about 20$ so not the best for mass buys. As last point, typiclly for CEE, there are also some complicated laws that protect some geo-keywords but also LLL combinations like WAW (Warsaw), GDY, GDA, ....etc. etc. so cities, wojewodships etc. are preferred to buy this.

According to this article ( http://rynekdomen.pl/2016/domena-wearables-pl-sprzedana-za-173-tys-zl/ ) this is valid sale. There was an auction on biggest Polish domain marketplace Aftermarket.pl, and whois change to new owner. Buyer is not end user and bought it to resale.

Drop-time (UTC) for .PL, anybody knows?
It depend when domain was registered. But if you want to catch good domain you have to check if there is no option on domain, more: https://www.domeny.tv/en/option
