Php - Manipulating images

hi all ned some help as im a beginner in php.

i want to be able to take pictures (jpg) from a folder and put them all together all muddled up and mixed together then output the image to another folder still as a jpg to be viewed on a web page.

how would i go about doing this?

ok ill try and make things a bit clearer

ok i have a folder of jpg's.

i want to have a script that gets all thimages in the folder and adds them all together as one image. the image that it makes needs the images that are added to it to be displayed all mixed up else if you lay all the images on top of each other you will only see on image. so some will need to be rotated and moved to show all the images.

does that seeem clearer?

is this gonna be run when a user visits or when a admin executes the script?

when a user visits. there wont be many images in there anyhow so it shouldb be ok if it dies then ill make it linit the amount of images it uses.

can u offer any advice?

Your going to need to use the gdlib. You want them to lay over top of eachother or side by side? I'd suggest you create the files and save them so they aren't created every time the script is executed, instead calls the image. If that is possible with what you want though.

can u explain how to do some of it? or any pointers on what i need to include as i said im a newbie

configure gdlib on your server, then look up some code on like php.net or someting Im not really sure how to tackle taht type of question....still trying to think why you would want to do that, but go ahead...

its a project for uni. but its not somting we have beeen taught.

its called liquid media and we have to come up with an idea for this mine involves photomessaging and the internet.

i just need to use php to manipulate the images for the final piece

You didnt answer my question, "You want them to lay over top of eachother or side by side?"

on top of each other but as so u can see al the images so they might need to be rotated and maybe cut up or something the image to be made would be about 400 x 300 wide

great thanks for that thing is i need to look at creating from other images. ive seen the creatfrom jpg etc but im unsure how to check for all the images in the folder and also how to put tem togtether
