Do personal names make good (i.e valuable) domain names? From my limited search it does seem that most first names are registered in all the common extensions (even .ws and .tv). Has there been any high priced sales of first name domain names - like david.com, jack.com, jennifer.com?

I don't know about the sales, but you'd figure with those great names that the sites they direct to would be a little better.

david.com goes to some guy's blog whose adsense ads don't even behave properly.

jack.com gets an error message 'page not available'.

jennifer.com goes to a p*rn (wannabe?) site.

I just checked several names on Ovt and here's what I got (these are all numbers with the .com extension):

David ~ 400
Jack ~ 1000
Jennifer ~700
Michelle ~370
James ~100
Suzanne ~40
Nancy ~400

Wow! These are some pretty good numbers. I haven't check if there are actual sites with those (cause I'm at work and don't want to run into a p**n site :) )
