Hi Guys,
I found a good domain that is in the pending delete status and was wondering, when does it drop? 5 days after the update date and the next morning it drops?

Any idea what time the domain drops from the registry? Or what does it depend on? Registrar or what..

Thanks a lot :)

"PD" update date (in WhoIs) + 6 days. It'll drop on the sixth day after that update date, approx. 2:00 p.m. EST (theoretically, of course). ;)
All the best!

Yes, it's not by any means an exact science when attempting to register domains manually with scheduled "drops", IMHO.
Brew a lot of coffee, or stock up on those yummy Dr. Pepper's, as I do.
Mikes™ Cranberry for those 21+ only! ;)

poor jeff, can't afford to snap it  j/k :D

But it isn't guranteed 2 EST, because some registrars keep the domain for an extra 30 days to give the owner another opportunity to buy it before it gets dropped

If the dropping name is a dotcom, and any drop-registrar is interested in it, then I'm afraid a hand-reg just won't get you the name. Their computers are much faster than us poor humans. :(

Yea i know, but who knows, maybe I will be lucky.. it's not a very short name so it shouldn't spark very high interest from the big players.

BTW, yes it is a dot com... oh well, I will try my luck tomorrow :)

Was also wondering, is it OK if I am going to try with an eNom reseller or should I go for the accredited registrars for better results?

Hold it guys! I think we're getting mixed up here
somewhere.

When a domain name is on PENDING DELETE, it
is at the REGISTRY level, not the REGISTRAR
level.

Based on snapname's diagram
(https://www.snapnames.com/partners/snapnames/deleteprocess.html), the domain will delete the domain from
their database anywhere from 1-45 days. Of
course, it could take longer depending on the
registrar.

Once in the registry, it stays in REDEMPTION
PERIOD for 30 days, then PENDING DELETE for 5
days.

So based on the answer that they'll drop at 2PM
EST, they'll drop from the registry.

And that's when you gotta pray! :hehe:

^ Righto. Drops on the sixth day after the update to "PD" (at the Registry level). :tu:

Now, I'm dizzy.
Thanks.

Umm, I'm confused, the status says PENDINGDELETE...so I guess it's at the registry level :)

BTW, it's almost 6pm EDT and the domain did not drop yet, it appears so, or did I miss it and someone picked it up? I have been watching it since 2pm and it didn't drop, my guess is someone scooped it, or is it possible that it didn't drop yet :( ...if it didn't it's a bit behind..

Hi pimpdaddy,
I'm a newbie in this area, but I made a lot of research the last days regarding this confusing topic. This is how I believe that it works:

Once the registry drops a domain (on the 6th day after updating its status to PENDINGDELETE) it is available for registration again on the interface between registry and registrars. Here 130+ registrars are working with their grabbing scripts to be the first to grab the desired domains on behalf of the dropcatcher with whome they partner. We ourself, or our scripts we might use, have to establish first a connection with an accredited registrar and after that we can hope that this registrar forwards our request fast to the registry. I think no chance for competitive names.
The public Whois-records are only updated once a day. So there very often a domain which has dropped was never visible as AVAILABLE.

Asking the Pros for corrections if I don't have it right.

There is a chance, actually, if you follow the Olympic motto. :D
