What type of software packages do you use to secure your PC from keyloggers, spyware, malware and viruses so that your domains and email accounts are safe.

Which packages are the best and economical for use by domainers?

Since I often use public computers this is a big issue for me. I use Moniker for my domains recently purely for the safety reasons, and apart from that I use SafeMail for email as they are a very secure webmail provider.

You seriously need to stop using public computers Gerrit to login to your accounts and manage your domains.
Because virtually all of those computers are infested with malware, they are prime targets as a lot of tourists, etc use it to login to personal stuff.

There is no privacy when you use a public computer - assume everything you do can be seen by anybody - anybody will gain access to whatever you do.

If you're really paranoid - buy a separate new computer and only use it to login to your domains related accounts/finance and do what you need to do and then unplug from the internet!
And of course still have your firewall installed and AV package(s) installed, do your homework to see which ones are compatible with each other, not all are.
And don't use WIFI or other wireless connection.

For all other stuff use another computer.

The threat in any PC security is not what goes into to your PC but what info. goes out from your PC.

Suggestion of -NC- zonealarm is one of the best freeware outthere

I know but my internet at home is down for quite a while already and in Turkey things are not fixed in a reasonable amount of time like it goes elsewhere. I use SafeMail for that purpose, as it is one of the most secure email systems, and Moniker who never lost a domain and verify every transfer in their system personally.

I understand, it's out of necessity you need to use public computers but it's at all times a risk and a big risk.

Using a public computer to login to your safe-mail account can result in your safe-mail login details being compromised, keyloggers log the keystrokes and thus your login details. Safe-mail can not prevent this from happening.

So now someone could have access to your email account and use the password retrieval system at Moniker and then transfer any domain away.

Question is then how "Personal" is the verification at Moniker going to be?
If all goes through email then the transfer goes through and you lost a domain(s).

Don't use public computers ;)

I'd add to that *avoid* using WiFi connections ... when on the road, use a cellular modem (aircard, etc) to connect to the internet. WiFi is very difficult to secure; spoofing, etc.
