PayPal Charging Fee to Send Money

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Not sure if this is the correct section or if the topic has already been discussed, but I noticed today that Paypal no longer allows members to send money for free. I sent a "Gift" pay today and was charged a Paypal fee for the transaction. The fee was small, but a fee nonetheless.

Anyone else notice or experience this? I do not recall being a charged a fee the last time I used the gift option, though I can't say for certain how long ago I used it. I'm thinking within a couple of months.

Not a huge deal, but I wanted to inquire just the same.

I notice it only charges me when i'm sending via gift to someone out side of U.S. (or maybe not verified).

That must be the reason. I viewed the fee link Paypal provided next to the amount, but it showed nothing as to the reason for the fee. Typical Paypal.

Anyway, before sending this reply I double checked and sure enough the recipient is not in the USA. Thanks for the info. I thought I was losing my mind.

Rep added.

This is nothing new. If you send money through PayPal as a gift, you will be billed. If however you don't, the receiver pays the fees.
