Parking new domain names

Hi everybody!
I'm new in domaining and this is my first post!. After reading some books and forums I have some doubts to ask you:

Since the expired domains market seems to be highly competitive I am thinking on creating new domains, so:

1) I read that when you use PPC parking for a domain you don't need to promote it, but you also need to have previous traffic to assure some regular visits. Is this correct?

2) So, if I create a new domain based on words or phrases that are highly used in google searches (looking in google keyword tool) should I expect some traffic if I use PPC parking in that site

3) In case that the answer to point 2 is NO, my only way would be to develop the new site to start apearing in google searches, wouldn't it?

Thanks in advance for your time !!!

Best wishes

Claudio

1) Yes, it has to have previous traffic, or type in value. I can't remember the statistic but it is quite a high percentage of the web who still type in domain names for example if they wanted a keyboard, they would type buykeyboards.com so exact match is rather handy.

2) It is unlikely you will get much traffic from google if you are simply parking domains, they will just remove them from the search. A better option would be to recreate a dropped domain's site, and continue gaining the traffic by the same method (my opinion)

3) Yes :)

Hi Claudio

seems those books and forums you read didn't make things any clearer for you, did they?

:)

1. basically that is correct, but how would you know if domain has previous traffic?
also, if you park, one would also be thinking of selling the domain in the future, so promotion to some degree will be applicable

2. big myth with gkwt numbers which is:
many think the numbers represent "actual" visitors you'll receive if you register those terms as a domain name, which is not true.

3. yes

imo...

1. basically that is ...

Thank you both for your answers!

and you are right! things aren't clear enough yet!!
It's like you start thinking "it's easy: buy an expired domain and then put it for auction and get revenue!" then each little concept you find opens into tons of new knowledge that you ignore!!! :hehe:

But still eager to learn about the business!!!

Thanks again for the info and see you around

Clau.

type-in traffic is mainly for .com domain name if it has some popular terms, words..

However, you can find some good traffic domains from dropped list, based on Alexa status..

Two points that seem to be missed above. Sedo and other parking companies get very upset if you promote - or have previously promoted - a domain you park with them. Promotion done by a previous owner is usually OK.

Secondly - either develop a name or try to sell it. Most buyers first type in the domain. If they find a developed site they assume the domain is not for sale.

Well, if you find .com extension with high searches then it is good for earning money from parking, but make sure that domain is not too long.

Because .com receives good type-in traffic.

As you are talking of creating a site, then I would like to tell that there is difference in parking page and website

Because parking page converts good compared to a developed web page.. visitors don't have option, they have to click the ads only but your domain should have traffic.
