Pamela Anderson has won a case for the domain name PamAnderson.com in an arbitration case at World Intellectual Property Forum.
The case was brought against Alberta Hot Rods, a group that had a run in with Anderson back in 2002. In the 2002 WIPO case Anderson won the domain names PamelaAnderson.com, PamelaAnderson.net, and PamelaLee.com.
Alberta Hot Rods have owned alberteinstein.com tomcruise.com and kevinspacey.com at one time, didnt check if they still own any of them. The good news is in 2000 Alberta Hot Rods won a WIPO Case and was allowed to keep tammy.com lol So the system can work even for the hot rodders.
This is completely reasonable. If your name define who you are and your name is also associated commercially with a brand then you absolutely have the right to own the domain to your own name. In other words, if someone else owned that domain they would be profiting off of something that only you have the right to profit off of.
