I think it's time to start a thread about owners that let their domain expire and then come back to you expecting to hand it over like that. I've dealt with a few of those lately, and some of them act like a bunch of self-entitled brats.

1 of the emails we got recently is from someone who didn't even bother saying Hi or Thanks. Just said "I've owned this domain for X years and I want it back." Would it kill him to at least say please, hello, thanks like a civilized human being?

I find that because they've owned the domain and probably bought it for $10, they can't grasp the fact that the domain is worth more now. Somehow they think that a new website they register is the same as a domain that gets 3,000 visitors a month.

I have lots of stories, but kinda beat for the day. Would love to hear other peoples' experiences to ease the pain

Had same problem with cuxy got a call saying this person was financially troubled and gave me the story of how he had it for years!
Registered it since new and wanted it back. I told him sorry but I have it ready for development but if he would like to make an offer he was welcome. Never heard back 4 years ago.

I get tons of those. Its usually not worth your time to respond 9 times out of 10.

I don't ever reply, good owners don't let their domains expire. It's in better hands now.
