Ovt?

I am wondering about ovt rank why I have found a domain with good ovt rank but I am wondering why is ovt rank so important? I know that it means someone searches for those keywords but if you park it then it most likely won't rank very high anyway. Can someone explain the reason etc?

True, in most cases a high OVT is good for a name that is going to be developed rather than for PPC. At the same time, no name will be with PPC for ever unless you want like that. So most probably you will want to sell it to end user (or another reseller who may find another end user) and this end user may develop the site where in high OVT will eventually help.

Even in PPC, bidders may tend to bid high for the words that are most searched and hence your page gets more relevant high bid ads which in turn is good for the pages.

Not only will higher OVT words tend to bring in higher bids per click, they also tend to be more commonly typed in. So, if you have something like domain.com, you can expect a pretty high OVT rating along with type in traffic. However, if you have something like domain4421.com you may still have have a component of your domain that has a high OVT ("domain"), your entire domain will not have a high OVT and your type-in traffic will almost be non-existent.

There is a difference between an ovt score and an ovt w/extension (w/ext) score. An ovt score will let you know how many searches were performed for keywords and can give you an idea of how popular domains around that subject would be in general.

Ovt w/ext scores are important for those who are looking for high profit parked domains because ovt w/ext can be a good indicator of natural type-in traffic. The higher the score w/ext, the more type-in traffic. Pretty much any generic domain with an ovt w/ext score will make you some profit, or at least make enough to pay for its reg fee.

As a warning if you're going to start looking at sales for domains claiming to have ovt w/ext scores; be very careful because sometimes, people either intentionally or unintentionally can get their domains to have ovt w/ ext scores. Either they can manually search for their domain with extension (causing it to show ovt w/ext score) and then put it up for sale. Or, if they have it up for sale for a while, people could be typing in the domain while researching it and in effect, give the domain a ovt w/ext score. Just be careful
