.mobi Our DOT MOBI Press release?

Guys,
it's occurred to me WE need to spread the word more.
Not just on here where we are preaching to the converted.
We are all doing our bit by sourcing info, helping on development projects, hell! just by regging mobis
But can't we do more?
Forget techie news releases & webmaster sites etc. The public & businesses need to hear about this extension. Now i'm sure mtld & the consortium will do more in time, but shall we start?
Who has a little time to knock up an interesting 'press release'? i guess it could mostly be cut & pasted from the mtld site
Newspapers are always looking for free stories etc.
I think it's time the mainstream newspapers started printing the term .mobi?

Shall we? Just fire off emails. I f we get a bogstandard press release, we can all cut & paste it. We'll have it on this thread say, then as we all come from different regions & countries, we can sort our patch! LOL

I like the idea. I am doing my part already by emailing every company and tell them why they need to buy a .mobi name. I have already emailed companies, bands, universities, .com sites, etc.

I would love to read something about Mobi in the NYTimes or my local newspaper.

I believe the best strategy is to develop a useful .mobi site, and then send the press release about it. Another strategy is to write real news stories about .mobi, and make them available (using a blog, via wikinews, whatever).

I like the idea, we should do this similar to what PRWEB.com is doing but specifically for .mobi. I am willing to pay moderate fee to have my PR released to the mobile internet world.

Here's an idea (for which more ideas can come)

My friend has BarryBonds.mobi (baseball player in America)
Instead of only reaching out, how about they come to us (can save time)..

Here is an incentive:

1.) When Barry Bonds hits a home run, or at any time, create an Adwords in Google for the keyword "Barry Bonds"..

2.) Create a Namepros for sale BarryBonds thread in the marketplace..

3.) When the public Google's "Barry Bonds" they might see the ad at the sidebar of their search results for a .mobi

Like:

"Click here to buy BarryBonds.mobi for $10,000
New hot domain name extensions from mtld.mobi"

So you'll pay for clicks (but present it right to reduce); but, you have a chance to get a big sale or exposure for your .mobi site! Remember the public, endusers, pay much more than us fellow domainers..

Plus if you link to the NP sales thread.. then you will be inviting people to our Dot Mobi forum here to learn more.. its an exponential effect.. they will tell others..

By putting it for sale and marketing Dot Mobi this way, we can have our cake and eat it too!
