.org vs .us

Just wondering, generally, if both the .org and .us of a domain name were available, which should a person pick and why?

.ORG and then .US. Why? Because the .ORG will be more valuable than the .US. IMO.

Is .org better (in your opinion) because it is more widely known/used?

I am a fan of .ORG and .US and both have their uses. However, in general I would take .ORG over .US, but there are unique cases especially when the term is not a good fit in .ORG when .US might be the better choice.

Some product related domains work better in .US than .ORG. Not all products are a good fit for .ORG

GEO domains work well in .ORG (Globally) or .US (US Related).

Then there are some domains that are great fits in .ORG such as Health/Medical/Education type domains.

It is a case by case basis, but in general .ORG has more value than .US

Ah, I see. So in that case, which one is better: .us or .info?

Sometimes .us is better than .info but consider .us works fine only with U.S. people/businesses.

In the rest of the world .info is not so crappy.

Well, .info is widely used than .us across the world. So if you got to make a choice then .org is more suitable then .us

So if I want my site to appeal to an international audience, I should opt for .info over .us?

.org over .us (almost everyday).

If your appealing to a international audience, then the .org is by far the way to go.
