Don't get my wrong all my static html pages are optimized however I've been focusing a lot lately on optimizing my front page, the index.html as much as possible because I see this as the most important page on the site, I planning on ranking no.1 for my keyword so optimizing the page that will end up ranking high is a good idea or should I optimize every single html page?

I got about 30 static html pages that I need to manually adjust each time I make a 'global' change

Thoughts?

Sure, optimize every single page as much as you can.

Every "optimized" page on your website will increase your SEO weight & improve your SERP for long-tail keywords too.

Also, don't forget that your "internal links" pass link-juice to each other. :imho:

By all means optimize your index page but the index page is rarely the most important page on a site.

How much valuable content do you have on your index page? For example if you sell a product the most important page for that product might be the description page.

Good point, I'm tweaking the description pages now trying to get the density right. What I've noticed is that adding an article section to my site increased visitors by a large %.

Thanks for the prompt advice once again!

Its good you have only 30 pages to do. :) If I was in your place I would have manually researched keywords and optimized each page of the site. :)

Hey Nick,

Interesting Idea but I really only have 4 - 5 major keywords that I am focusing on, only two of the keywords show up in google trends, so Im optimizing all my pages for those two keywords that get the most traffic, do you think this is a good idea?

I've also noticed that users are coming to my website through mini phrases for example, I've got 30 visitors today from "The best XXX product in Austalia" - Now what I think might benefit me by bringing me more visitors is if I write a article about that keyword and optimize it further...

What are your thoughts?

You can check some free keywords on http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com and find the other related keywords to the two main keywords you are talking about.

Using the related keywords will not only target them but will also be a good move from the onpage SEO Point of view.

Thanks.
