Recently, I found a domain that I’m 99.9% sure is a good name. It’s worth $14,000 according to Estibot, but I’m not only using Estibot to value this domain. It has a VERY good and powerful keyword and about 40,500 searches per month. It has a 1.47 CPC and it was created in 2005. The keyword is a very common word, oh and it’s a two word.com. It’s on auction and it’s ending tomorrow night and the min bid is 69. Currently, it has no bids.

What I want to ask you is that in the case that it does NOT get any bids, should I buy it? I wanted to follow the challenge and start small because I'm a newbie but if I found a great domain that is not expensive at all for the actual value, then why not to get it? I mean, I just don’t know what makes more sense? Do you think I should get it or not?

I think it's almost impossible to give relevant and reasonable opinion without knowing the domain name which in this case is highly undesireable on your end.

With the given stats, I dont think you will be losing any money, assuming you dont make profit of it.(I know why you dont wanna reveal the name)

I have lost too many such deals just because couldnt converge at the time.

I remember posting the same question once and the response I received most no. of times was if you aint able to trust guts and take risks, this isnt your place.I think domaining is one of the areas where almost everybody errs in his initial years.

So as long as you trust your knowledge and resouces that you can easily flip it to an interested party, you should go for it.

PS:You have made me pretty curious.Lets see if I can find the auction

If it's not too late, you can check if domains with similar words/subjects have been reported sold in namebio.

Similarly, you can check how many domains are registered with similar names in zfbot.com (be sure to check they are not parked)

Next, a good indicator is to look how many ads are currently published for your kw (using spyfu, semrush or similar). The high cpc does not mean there are many ads. It's more a sign that G want to get a lot of money for this kw (I've had situations with zero competition, top quality score and yet G charging a lot more than the minimal fee)

Finally, ask yourself: who is going to buy this domain ? (I mean what businesses)

I see many domains that are 'forgotten' by domainers and become available for hand registration. Many of them get registered sometimes several weeks or months after expiration. Of course, this does not apply to hot premium chips or whaterever: these get zillions of bids all the time.

Okay, when and IF I purchase the domain, I'll tell everybody the name.
