about 3 weeks- a month ago a user with the name of DWAYNE was banned from namepros...

I would like to know what people think about this...and if they had any good or bad incounters with him.

He IMed me on AIM asking me to help him get back on namepros....
I explained to him that namepros is a very fair place to work...and wondered why he was banned.

He does sound very sorry for whever he did...and includes "I am leaving the domain business because namepros is the only good domain forum I can work in"

Anyone think he should be back... take the poll and post anything about this...

Thanks,
Andrew SHaw

He was banned over the warning system, flamming I think it was, multipul times. I think it was a temporary ban but then he created another account and was banned perminatly.

I never had any problems with him. I saw him on DNcollective.com, he's leaving domain business all together?

"i'm leaving because i cant find a very active forum like namepros is. DNCollective is a nice place, but not as active as NP" are his exact words

It might be hard for anyone to vote objectively without knowing the reasons behind someone being banned. Dwayne had received warnings for namecalling, sales crashing and offering pirated software for sale which pushed him over the 20 point limit in the warning system. That results in an automatic 14 day minimum ban, after which time we can evaluate and invite the user back in some cases.

Righto, Dwayne was very naughty (as described above) during the Holidays ... sometimes we request - as a prerequisite to being regained/re-evaluated access and participation here at Namepros - that he establish good credit/trading/behavior at other Forums (domain name or otherwise), and then we will take that in to consideration after his ban has been lifted. My recollection here is that it was not a permanent and/or irrevocable banning ... but he did do some stuff that is certainly not up to the professional grade of our membership and community, IMHO.

I thought you said Dwayne was perminatly banned when he created a new account...

We'll do a thorough review ... I was just going above with my first impression/recollection of the events leading up to his banning, IMHO.

Yeah, that's what he told me too..

But in retrospect, sales crashing and selling pirated software can be pretty serious..

He did pm me saying he's sorry about what he did too..

I guess he just needs to learn his lesson the hard way. Nonetheless, he's young and a new domainer. I personally feel that he should be given another chance. Why not give him final warnings and if he insisted on acting immaturely, then the permanent ban?

I also feel that this issue is an administrative issue which should be dealt with by the moderators rather than the public's decision. Thus, sorry I will not cast a vote regarding Dwayne's departure.

Regards,
Flora. :gl:

By all means, it's their decision...

I've been graciously PM'd by a fellow member referencing my prior public comments / thread as to his "irrevocable banning" from the nasty incidents mentioned above. As I'm now (re)reading those comments -and- recalling exactly what occured here with Dwayne at the time, it is indeed pretty narly stuff IMHO. :cy:

That being said ... I am one (vote) of three fair-minded Staffโ„ข, and having, humbly, been doing this for quite some time, there are typically exceptions to every rule (if those exceptions provide for a benefit to the community and/or provide for a better system of fairness and balance). Apologize for not recalling all the history here after being on vacation.
I will assemble with Staffโ„ข and see if his status can be re-evaluated at this time ... after someone maligns another member publicly, I'm going to need a pretty solid reassurance that it could never ever happen again.
Just my two sense. :)

Just wanted to clarify, and thanks folks!

I think it should definitely be left up to the admins. I have had some good encounters with him, and some bad encounters with him, but the charges against him are pretty serious. Its gonna be a tough decision, for the Admin team.

MissFlora its an opinion pole... noone asked you to decide anything. I wanted to know what everyone in the forum thought about him...opinions. Not what WILL happen to him..

Kind reguards,
Andrew

Dwayne's a nice guy, a good guy. A little overzealous perhaps. We all screw up, do dumb things. I know I have.. and do. But, naturally, it's the staff's decision.
