OpenCart hacked

A company I do contract work for has recently been having problems with two of their opencart sites being hacked. I have read that there are a number of security holes in opencart and assumed there would be flaws considering it is open source but to my dismay it seems that they do not seem to care about the issues and are not activley working to fix them.

Has anyone else had these issues and how difficult is it going to be to fix these issues? Is Opencart to be scrapped at this point or is there a solution?

Noone has any answers? with all the opencart sites out there, there must be a solution other than dropping it.

I've used OpenCart fairly extensively, haven't seen any major security flaws which cannot be addressed by securing the hosting.

Could you please elaborate?

Thanks

turns out the guy who did the estore used an older version of opencart.. we are going to modify a new version and that should clear up the prob.
I honestly do not know how the script was hacked, but it was done to two sites using opencart. After reading about it I read that there are serious holes in opencart.. the newest version does seem to have cleared most of them up though.
