What are your thoughts on .online domains?
It's very generic and not as ugly as .xyz for example, so that's a plus - but perhaps a little too long to have any success...
Plus most good names are either unavailable or premium...

I would shoot godaddy customer service a quick email to see if they will refund the difference in good faith. They should process an adjustment since I am sure you have purchased a few domains with them. No guarantee.. but it couldnt hurt to give it a shot :)

crap, I fell for the 9.99 trap today! feel stupid now.:(

You can call GoDaddy and either have them give you difference back, or refund the purchase(up to 5 days) and then you can repurchase the domain(s) with the new price.

jumped on chat and they gave me store credit for the difference. Works for me.

Checking the registrations again, today we were at 157.5K. At this rate, .Online should be around 200k registered by the time it's one year anniversary comes around in May.

Another week has gone by and were at 171,243. So it's a constant addition which is great. For those that think this gtld is too long, look at how much .website is growing and that's a longer extension.

I think .online and .website got great potential to be household business names.

I hate .website. Won't ever buy one. It doesn't have anywhere near the potential of .online, IMHO.

Tons of websites already use "online" in their domain. "Website"? I wouldn't end a domain in that even in .com.

IMO, Only domains worth owning on .website would be a handful of hacks like:

My.website
Custom.website
Free.website
Our.website
Cool.website
Pro.website
Adult.website

Have become a serious .ONLINE fan recently (already before crazy GD/NC promos). I went through a lot NameBio data to find candidates for .ONLINE and started to think that in many cases, i.e. with many kws, .ONLINE is IMO the second best option after .COM for commercial purposes.

.ONLINE works with just about any plural product keyword creating a nice, easy-to-remember brand. Also, geographical areas, hobbies, interests, info etc. work nicely with .ONLINE.

So much better than .web which pretty much only works in spider.web IMO.

And just about every language has it as a loanword.

I think the main thing that will help .online over .website is the radio test. I am sure there are exceptions to this, but in comparison there are just more combinations that will work with .online (that still sound good). Another selling point to consider is the fact that the word flow can also lead to additional searches.

I've checked a few examples but here is the easiest.. I picked up Kartenspiele.Online (card games in german).
Kartenspiele - 60k monthly searches
Kartenspiele website - 0 monthly searches
Kartenspiele online - 880 additional searches a month

Is it a major traffic change if you own the .online? No.
Would 880 potential clients be worth it if I am trying to rank a website and run an adsense campaigns? Sure. Any kind of "free" traffic that I can get and maybe turn into a potential sale would be beneficial to me.

What I like about .online is it looks and sounds premium, brandable and fits anything.

IMO Radix should buy out the .onl registry (it's as good as dead) and somehow make it possible for us to just type .onl to get us to .online. That would be a win-win solution for everyone.

.online is a natural extension that clearly means "on the internet/web", which is perfect for end user businesses and individuals alike. In my opinion, using natural speech in English, you can speak any name and add "dot online" in a fluid fashion. This extension is one, if not the only, extension that you could remove the dot and you have a very clear, meaningful name. I truly believe, at least in Western part of the world, that .online domain names will emerge as a top extension next to .com.

As far as .website, I see the biggest challenge being .web and .site. I don't see them as being a challenge to .online for the reasons I stated above. Of all the gTLD extensions, .online makes the most sense IMHO.

Got a few .onlines. Some I will use for my business, some as an investment.

Also 2 German ones. That was a bit of a gamble, as I am not German and have no idea if .online will become popular in Germany. We'll see.

Autoversicherung.online
Reiseversicherung.online

Happy to see that .online is going up fast. But I dont understand why some extensions suddenly appear in the stats out of nowhere with a crazy amount of registrations.

I like the idea, but I think some people wont be happy. For instance what will happen with the domain names that were registererd under .onl? If you have credit.onl and Radix anounces that they bought .onl and you will loose your registration. That would upset me.......

Has anyone had luck selling their 3L.online so far? I've been getting some really good traction with impressions, some cash park and already sold 2 which paid for 40 of them.

Haven't listed any yet. What platform did you find successful or were they private offers?
parked with Sedo, not seeing much traction yet.

Both of them were private offers. I haven't even tried to sell them yet on other registrars or NP, so it's a good start for zero effort put in. Also got another inquiry for another 3L, just waiting for a reply now.
