Hey guys,

I've decided to Veto the results of this round's vote. What that means is that YOU, the NamePros community, will be deciding the fate of this round. The results of this 24-hour poll are BINDING.

So please take a few seconds and make your vote count!

Thanks,
Andres

Not enough people went OUD and do the voting? :/ The interest is dwindling, do something outstanding Andres. :)

Hey Andres,
Glad to see you around here. I was and continue to be a lurker on both, OUD and TRBD. BTW, great picks on your mobi domains- yep, I checked your portfolio out. :)

Ok, so if you put it to veto, I voted for the .im set. Just one more round, as time is not in your favor.
Let's see then what the next round brings then.

Same vote and totally agree.

I'd pick the best .IM and renew it. It's the only way to get out of this log jam.

I voted for the .IMs, but I suggest you renew at least two of the domains for the next round. If the .IMs stay, there will be a repeat (or two or three) of what's happening now. Everyone is getting tired of seeing the same names, but they know they are too good to let them lose to what's been offered so far.

IMHO, you will not receive any better offers for the next round as long as these names are near renewal. As I've told you before... domainers are not very enthusiastic about acquiring soon-to-expire names with high registration fees, even if they are good quality names.

Agreed and voted accordingly...

There is no contest here, the value of your current domains (even with auction costs etc) is a distance above anything else in that list.

Best of luck with the next round.

Looks like another round of .im's then. What a shame. A little strategy to keep things moving and interesting would've been worth a lot more than several rounds of this casino obsession.

If you're going to hold onto a name for several rounds, it should at least be worth it. When you're getting poor trades and no real interest, it's time to apply some strategy and trade a name that will result in better trades in the next round.

Keep your OnlineCasino.im, OnlinePoker.im, InstantMessage.im and Wifi.im :tu:

Btw, welcome to NamePros ;)

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your votes and support!

I'm very impressed with the results. So impressed, in fact, that if it's OK with RJ, I'd like to host the OUD voting on NamePros from now on and eliminate the Veto all together. :sold:

Within 2 hours, I had as many votes on here as as I had in 24 hours using the Sparklit script on my blog! And by the end of the voting here, I had a whopping 150% more votes in total! Plus, I agree with these results a lot more. I know how much people hate having to confirm their votes via e-mail, and they don't have to on NamePros, which is great. I also like the transparency of being able to see who voted for what, which virtually eliminates any possibility of cheating. The fact that you guys are an experienced group of domainers casting your vote only helps! :)

Anywho, you guys have spoken, and I'll be keeping my OnlineCasino.im set for another round (sorry Tristan!). I also hear you about the expensive renewal of the soon-to-expire .im names, so this is what I'm going to do. I was hoping to accomplish this journey without spending a single cent (imagine what kind of story that would've been!), but I also accept that we are stuck since most domainers hate the idea of having to do a trade that will cost them money right off the bat, which is fair enough. So I'm going to take Brian's advice and renew the 2 best names I have, OnlineCasino.im and OnlinePoker.im, for 1 year and absorb the $160 cost so they don't expire until July 2008. Together with the growing PR4 links, the profit-sharing, and the fame, I'm hoping this will attract enough juicy offers this round to move on. Don't get me wrong, thought, these are some very valuable end-user names in their own right.

Enough writing already, I still have to update my blog!

Thanks again guys!

See you soon,
Andres

I'm curious. Why will next round result in better offerings while the past few showed that domainers didn't want these .im names? I'm not convinced it's mostly about the renewal fees.

What you don't want to find is that you renew these domains, costing you money, but then you still have to trade down.

Next round when the vote will occur, just keep in mind to hide the vote results till people vote, so that it should not influence the process. I think there is an option that you can check.

I'm convinced that it is mostly about the renewal fees. Strong keyword CCTLDs sell well. Maybe not for thousands, but OnlineCasino.ext and OnlinePoker.ext will always sell well if the owner is patient. There is (or will be) a strong presence for online casinos in the Isle of Man and these keywords are a close second to Casino, Casinos and Poker.

The population of the Isle of Man is 75,000 and this figure will never rise above 100,000 in the next 10-15 years. Somehow I don't think that there will ever be a significant market for online casinos with such a small population (that is always limited by the tiny size of the island). I would also bet that a significant proportion of the population do not even know that the .im extension exists.

If you had your own forum, you would have just as much transparency, more so since you would have control of who signs up for your forum or not. Plus, the added pages and depth to the site would serve as a way to increase the page rank of OUD. Plus it would also help you SEO-wise, as more pages would end up indexed in the search engines. Finally, running your contest through this site in the short run might be a way for you to increase your vote count, by basically generating drive-by votes, yet keep in mind, there are mostly resellers at this forum, and if you are going to maximize your income, you need to appeal to end users.
