I say evil, because these are intentional, disrespectful things.
They try to cover their mistakes with new mistakes, instead of fixing old ones.

Someone contacted for a domain, I added price, and said,
please visit the domain, and see the price, and if you like it,
you can buy it immediately.

Later today I checked the domain, price is not there. Only the contact form is there.

WHY IS THE PRICE NOT PUBLIC???!!!

THEY DON'T WANT ACTUAL BUYERS TO SEE THE PRICE, THIS IS WHY.

AND THIS FAKE BUYER MIGHT BE EPIK ALREADY.

Disgusting.

Maybe I should thank Epik for this bug?
I made my top sale at an external marketplace while domain was listed and parked at Epik.
Selling price was much higher than Epik list price.
But it was a one time event. And the price was visible to all on the landing page,
so this bug was not there...

Is it possible that they have been hacked again, and haven't reported it yet to their customers? It's curious that both Masterbucks and this problem are now happening.

Anything is possible. I am not sure what security changes they even made after the epic hack last year.

Even after last years hack, they were not overly transparent about what actually happened.

The knowledge about the hack was really more the result of third party reporting than Epik being straightforward IMO.

The longer this goes on without communication, the more it seems like something is clearly going on.

You are generally pissed off!
Why don't you just move your names to another registrar? :giggle:

One question will be what guarantees, incentives, promotions, and/or discounts Epik will provide after this, to help retain the customers.
He could move his domains at this point, but he still probably wants his Masterbucks back before he makes the complete switch.

I don't have problem with masterbucks (because I don't withdraw), or registrar part of Epik (or maybe I do and I'm not aware of it).

My complaints are about their landing pages and marketplace.
I don't want to park at a global marketplace to invite lowballing agents
without knowing anything about actual buyers.

Previous state of Epik marketplace was great except its unintentional bugs,
which have been reported. Maybe some fixed, but worse ones (intentional ones)
were created. Hiding buyer info completely is pure evil part.
Why: because registrar and marketplace are the same. Registrar then has more control.
Also normally noone would park at epik. if we are parking at epik, this means,
we are willing to sell at epik, rather than using another service.
And if we are using Epik marketplace, then we prefer to have money on our account,
so probably we won't try to withdraw our money and use it, and then
commission becomes only 9 percent, better than most, if not all.
So they are not really worried that we would communicate at Epik, and sell elsewhere.
They can manipulate leads in many ways, once they hide "buyers'" info.
They would know which domains have serious buyers, and mark them, and
may even prevent messages for those specific domains,
so we don't have enough reason to renew, and they would quietly grab it and
contact potential buyers.
So, their purpose with this marketplace is NOT to help us sell domains.
They prefer that we have buyers but not know it.
So their purpose is to prevent sales.
Sale means 9 percent profit.
Grabbing means 100 percent , or more (compared to what they would get if we sold it), profit.

SInce obviously they are reducing amount of profit they would make in a honest business
(helping us sell, and get their commission),
they must be planning to make profit in a legal looking but unethical methods.
It can be arbitrage, or blocking messages,...
or sending buyers messages from our mouth, etc..
all of which would be much worse than shillbidding, and should be
counted as illegal, and if caught, require prison sentence.

BTW, I can pay higher than usual commission, it can be 30 percent, but I must know that it is a fair deal,
meaning, for example, they did outbounding, and without their help, it wold likely not sell for that price.

Someone should create a coupon system. I mentioned it in several threads.
Some people would make money from sales, and save time, by paying higher commission;
and some would not take any financial risk, and make money from someone else's sale.
And there would be not much trust issue.

I don't have a single name on Epic and never had. You are beating around the bush, mate. Just move your names to another registrar 🙂

Like you, I've never had any domains or transactions with them. This does make life easier, not having to weather these Epic issues. The challenge is perhaps that the original poster has had some success with them, and is frustrated that he want that to continue and even improve. Understandable.

@Rob Monster

Contact this guy who is still on Epik’s board!

Instead of tendency to create a hit-thread.

I have most of my domains with epik;
and I still vouch for them.

Show genuine objectivity,
I would love to see how people feel about Godaddy jacking prices to about $20+ .com.
(^ Unless pay hostage tax; or privileged)
Godaddy STILL has 80% market! (Or 90%?)

So many things wrong the industry;
Epik, is not one of them.

Thanks for the perspective. You have an important reminder here. The better use of this forum is to try to help support other members and help solve problems as they arise.
Epik is an important marketplace player, and trying to help them improve is probably a better approach. For all we know, this might be a data corruption or hacking issue, rather than something more nefarious.
Hopefully, the company will respond quickly.

You can email Rob at [email protected]

Now sure how Rob feels about me giving email, but it seems they are steadfast in refusing to participate in any NP thread; (not that i agree) but this would be more fruitful; especially if you are a prospective concerned Epik client or thinking of trying them.

Anywho, Rob is not the CEO anymore, but as i noted before, still sits on their Board, Believe still own majority!

Thank you for your calm reply!

Give contacting Rob try; (especially email) before hit thread; feel done too much here;
Sure, he can explain:

“There’s a method to our madness.”

Best regards,
Samer
