I found a certain country domain extension which allows 1 letter domains to be registered:

for example

http://a.fr
or
http://www.a.com.fr

It's not fr(france) it's just an example, the country is pretty much a third-world country, and is undeveloped in the internet world.

Would registering these domains be of any value. I know that the country extension reduces the value.. but still.. it is a one letter(or number) domain.

Yes, it does have value, at least slightly higher than your reg fee (unless the reg fee is a enormous amount)

Reg Fee isn't too cheap... about 20$, all one letter/number domains are available for this country's domain extension

If there's no restrictions on regging this extension, $20 does worth it. But I would suggest you to make sure they do available. Since you can find some 1 letter /number .com shows "available" at some registrar.

20bucks is a good price for the first one you've mentioned.

Its not like this is the only one that allows it, I have seen a few ccTLDs that allow it and have available ones, so no reason to be secretive about it lol. If it was really worth something right now others would have reged it. I have been thinking about it to, it would be shorted then a 1 letter .com even so it might be worth doing so.

I very strongly doubt that one letter or number names are available on any top level domains, except perhaps some that are very expensive or restricted-to-residents. (Maybe there are IDNs, perhaps) There are specialists who jump all over one letter and number names the day they open, then sell them for a lot of money. You may find second level - L.com.fr for example, those are not so interesting.

As stated above some registrars will incorrectly list them as available, but when you try to register either it will fail or your money will be stuck in limbo until you find somebody to straighten it out.

There are a few two letter domains still available in obscure extensions - not something I would recommend a large investment in, but they are cool to own and might do OK in the long run.

After some research, some of the ones I thought you could get a one letter or number domain under you cant actually and there are a few others I think it might be posssible but it would take some effort to find out if it is possible since registry isnt automated. So if OP has found one which is unrestricted and only 20$ with automated registry then it might be worth reg.

Also it is important to look at any regulations and restrictions, some one these registries have stupid rules and poilicies. I came by one last week where you get your domain 3 months after paying because they are scared of chargebacks.

There are both two letter and one letter domains available , I have contacted the support of the domain registar, and they have confirmed that they indeed have and support 1 letter domains, I think I will buy one 1 letter domain, for personal use, maybe it will have some value in the future.

The domains come in the form:
L.com.{contry extension}
and
L.{country extension}

there are also some scam websites setup to defraud people selling domains from third world countries. i suspect this is what you have found. i mean, come on, seriously, EVERY SINGLE one letter domain is available? try sex.<cctld> and casino.<cctld> i bet they show up as available too D-:

that or they charge $500 a year for one letter renewals, read the fine print

$20 for a domain in the form L.{country extension} would be a great deal. Be sure that you can sell it to someone else, that there are not requirements that it be developed (at least in a way that you do not want to), residence requirements and so forth. Read the agreement, in other words.

I still am skeptical, but if you are successful I would sure appreciate a PM with the extension and the registrar you used. (If you post it, and it is real, someone will buy them all very quickly. )

yeah PM me to with it, I only want one which I will probably develop since they wont really be easy to sell but good for developing an upload site or something.

It's not a scam, I have already purchased two domains from there, but those were 5 letter and a 3 letter domain, the service is legitimate.

This is what I'll do.. I'll try to register a one letter domain, to check if everything is alright. If the registration process is indeed possible, I will share the infromation here, and tell you where you can get it.

I have a one letter domain name and a one digit too, of China CCTLD.
Unfortunately they are only .Net.Cn's.
A single letter .Com.Cn will worth more than 1m RMB.
Google bought their G.Cn for easy spelling, now using as the Chinese interface portal, is rumored to have paid 14m.

I'm going to try to purchase one domain, see what happens. If it is really okay / valid , that I will let you guys know where to get it from.

Which one has more value to register:
L.com.{countryextension}
OR
L.{countryextension}

$20 sounds too good to be true- I can't think of which extension this would be...
If true, I'd buy all 36.

Agreed.
I wouldn't bother at all with a L.com.ext if L.ext existed

One letter cctld

I'm an owner of several 1 letter and one number cctld format:
L.cctld
1.cctld

and
L.com.cctld
N.com.cctld

I'm new to the domaining bussiness and I'm wondering how much are these domains worth, and if there are intersted customers for such domains?
