Can you please help me appraise this domain name?
I think I would like to sell it.

The domain can be used for generic auction projects or it can be taken even further with subdomains - e.g. cars.onauction[dot]net, house.onauction[dot]net, domains.onauction[dot]net, etc.
At least that's what I think... Any other ideas and a valuation would be welcomed.

It would be good for a site that showcases interesting auctions that are happening on the internet, e.g. rare price of art, special classic car, famous person's stuff.

Wow, nice domain name. The idea with the subdomains is also nice.
It's probably worth somewhere mid X.XXX$, maybe even high X.XXX$
Though I wouldn't put it "on auction" for now I were you.
Keep it with "make offer" for a period of time if you're not in a hurry to sell.
