domain 8^X Dot Net?

Is it smart to reg the .nets of premium domains?
Somtimes I think of generic word combos and check them in godaddy, only to see that the dot com is unregd but they want thousands of dollars for them. Should I grab the .nets of these? Would they make a good buck? I have heard here that its not great to reg somthing when the .com is still avialable? But if the dot coms worth thousands shouldnt I be able to get $xxx for the dot nets?

Well therein lies the problem. The .com is regged and most likely parked, with an unrealistic vlaue placed on it. If potential buyers wanted the name in the .com and asked the big Q for price and was told mid xxxx then ran away not buying it, then they would have bought the next best reg at reg fee. So my guess is that unless its a standout name steer clear and always go for the .com. Until these parked domains get sold and developed, then the .net will not be worth alot, certainly not xxx.

It all stems from gready domainers, asking way to much for the .com. If they sold them off at very realistic low/mid xxx for a quick flip, then the market would pick up again and seeing developed .coms would encourage other end users to aquire similar domains.

Godaddy says the .com is available but for $1499
So I shouldnt grab the .net? because it wont be valuable until the .com is developed?

Did you not read the above post? Just because you see a big number on a domain for sale does not mean it's worth that. Checking what a domain has sold for RECENTLY at auction or private sale is a lot better reflection of its value. Oh I think I'll ask a million dollars for regappraisal. Is it worth that?
See what I mean. The domain links to an established site. I need to have better SEO and more backlinks to increase it's value.

I searched for a generic phrase the .com is UNregged and godaddys price for the premium domain is$1499..Would i not be able to get say $100 bucks for the .net? yes or no
