Old domains wanted threads

I was looking at some of the threads in the Wanted section and noticed that on a routine basis people post to very old threads that are long defunct. What does everyone think of maybe closing threads like this, especially when the buyer found the domain(s) needed? It seems futile to read through wanted ads that get resurrected from page 10 or the like because someone is trying to sell domains. It sure would help unclutter and keep things fresh if people would be wary of the date of the posts. Any thoughts on this?

I've come across some old dated threats here to. It does kind of knock you aswell, because if one person brings an old thread back so that it's top of the list, then other people will start replying, without paying any attention to the date.

What could we do to stop old dated threads coming back, however?

I think it would be nice if the topic starters could actually close their own threads, in that particular forum. That means members can stop people from bumping their topic week(s) later, by closing their own topic once they find their aquired domain(s).

Or maybe if the thread goes thirty days without a response or post to it a mod can close it.

Thirty days is about 20 days too long in my opinion. A thread gets buried pretty deep after 10 days of no postings.

I've implemented this idea. Thread starters in the Domains Wanted area will be able to close their own threads now.

If the original requester is no longer actively following the thread, it should be closed. If the poster does not close their own thread, a staff member can do so after determining that it is too old or no longer checked by the poster.
