Never used Godaddy before but it's quoting me in local currency, about 1 GBP which is approx. 2 USD

Or has the USD price also gone up?

Problems with registering expired .INFO names these days...

I am a big supporter of .INFO, have had a few dozens .INFO names since the TLD was launched a few years ago. Never any problem with an .INFO registration until last week - and a short Google search revealed that I am not the only one, so I think this is the proper thread where to mention it.

On Sept. 28, I registered an .INFO name which, I later realized, had just expired (it had been with somebody owning thousands of domains, who apparently just let it expire - it is NOT a top domain name, just one of interest to me in a specialized field in which I have already a few other names. Important precision: I did not get it through Snapname or anything like that - I just registered it very normally through Namecheap.

I got the domain without any problem, set the DNS to a temporary content, and the domain was online after a a few hours. My name was in the Whois, as well as my DNS (I check always), everything was fine.

Suddenly today, by chance, as I want to check the page, there is nothing online, no way to access the domain. I check my NameCheap admin interface: the DNS are properly set, but I have no longer access to them for any change.

I then go to the Afilias website, check the Whois and... what a surprise! My name is no longer there! Registration date is no longer Sept. 28, but Sept. 30. And the domain is blocked by Afilias, with the mention "temporary holding".

Hard to understand, isn't it? Of course, I have immediately written to Afilias, also got in touch with my registrar. And then did a small Google search, which allowed me to discover very soon that I am not the only one having the same problem right now. Visit the following thread:

I had received no notice from Afilias, my registrad had not been notified. Quite shocksing way of acting! Justr an advice: in case your registered a domain name (especially one just expired) those past few days, check if it is still your own! And let people on other domaine name forums with .INFO threads know about the problem.

Well, I have still good hope that it is a registry glitch, and that the domain will be back to me in a few days.

My latest catch - StripBar dot info. Taken in all gTLD and in many ccTld.

My .info status - I have lots of them, some of them are nice, but only one sale in the last 12 months (LLL.info to enduser) and couple of lowball offers for two generics - Tome and Spear dot info. It could be better %%- :gl:
