I hand reg'd this yesterday as I thought it would make a good site for selling office equipment and furniture etc. Then it dawned on me today when I saw the ads after I parked it that there is a Microsoft product called Office Ultimate 2007. A whois search showed that they own the .net and .org of the domain. From what I can see "Office Ultimate" is not a trademark of MS but I have no understanding of the law in this area.

I'll happily give it up if required, it will be a lesson for me. Next time I must make sure I do my homework before reg'ing a domain. Advice appreciated.

I'm guessing that when they reg'd the .net and .org in 2006 the .com was taken at the time.

FIrstly, if that's the case...and the .com was registered by someone not affiliated with Microsoft (and you should be able to find out by looking at the domain's history), then you could argue that Microsoft registered the .net and.org in bad faith and knowingly tried to push someone else off of the name after it was already in use by them. IMO, Microsoft should definitely have back ordered it. IMO. Besides, there is no 2008 or 2009 version that was produced by Microsoft.
As long as you don't sell computer programs from it, then there shouldn't be any problem. Just my opinion though. I'm not a lawyer.
