.nu has some popularity in those Nordic countries where it means 'new' (It's also French for nude).
But you've probably missed the boat if you're only asking now.

Save the cash. Buy a nice .com instead.

Ever been to Germany?
Or France?

Or the Netherlands?
Or Sweden?

Then why are there hundreds of ccTLDs?

I'd only reg a .nu if it was a great name, but there probably aren't any left.

The .Nu CC TLD is very common and widely used in Sweden where i'm from. After .SE i would say the .NU is a strong second CC TLD.

In Swedish "NU" means "Now" therefore it's huge popularity here. Keep in mind that if you want to invest in .NU the best strategy is to invest in Swedish words.

Here is a site for Swedish to English translation: http://lexin2.nada.kth.se/sve-eng.html

And this one: http://www.tyda.se

Having said this... The Swedish market is not a very big one, we are only 9 milion people and not that many are domainers. For myself i only got one .NU domain but Dont let that scare you of the .NU market ;)

I hope this info was helpful to you and good luck with your .NU domains!

Ok, thanks for the comments. Got 2 more questions:

1. Is .nu a minimum of 2 year registration?
2. English names .nu are not that good, only Swedish names if you do invest?

.co.uk and com is better for english content than .nu
IMHO.

Well, IMHO .nu isn't really a good extension. I don't have any .nu domains, but I may in the future.

Some day you may be able to do that, hopefully. From the very little information that I know, the .nu status is rising up. Hopefully you can sell your domains :D Only thing is, the .nu reg fee is high, so you may incur a minor loss of $xx.

1: I use a Swedish registrar and the minimum registration is 1 year for $14.00

2: As always, strong keywords as poker, business, realestate will always be of interest regardless of the extension. But most of these words are already taken, so try find the hidden gems that are still out there. Swedish words will work best. .nu names can also work in Norway and Denmark, but not in Finland since the finnish language is very different from the other scandinavian languages.
