Just out of interest in the domainname world (and without actual registration plans), but does anyone know if new .NC.TR registrations are being accepted?

As the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is a "de facto" country (= functioning as a proper state, yet not recognised by the UN yet), they did not get their own ccTLD yet from ICANN.
Turkey assigned them a proper extention .NC.TR (which is no domain that accepts subdomain registrations, it's a proper extention just like .COM.TR and like .ORG.TR)

But I cannot find any site that registers .NC.TR domains, and it seems only the Northern Cyprus government currently has an active .NC.TR domain going.

Interesting news but I think it would be a waste of money to register these names :imho:
Anyway, anything from Northern Cyprus has dubious legal standing.

I am not planning to register anything there myself, though I am just very interested in everything domainname-related and would like to know the status of .NC.TR just out of interest.

The government is the only .NC.TR domain active that I know off (and they also use www.trncgov.com as a secondary domain)

there is no such country,
it doesnt exist.
if you go down that road, maybe you should consider a Kurdish (KD?) extension???
when a country invades another to create a new one, it does not make it a viable ICANN nor UN recognizable extension
If a country is not recognized, there are good reasons it isnt so.
I can easily list 14 such cases off hand.
The Nothern part of Cyprus is a territory protected under the UN, and , it is far from Turkish, so I would guess it is has as good of a chance as .alq (Al qaida) being recognized functioning off Pakistan/Iran/Iraq.........................

Hmmm... Turkish Cyprus functions as a true country, it has its own government, legal system, parliament, ... Just because UN doesn't recognise it, it doesn't mean they can't function as a country (which is less the case with Kurdistan or Sapmi for example)

I find the whole attitude and boycot towards TRNC not entirely correct (as goes for some other de facto countries or regions as well) but I prefer not to go in detail as this is no political forum. I just would like to know about the .NC.TR extention, I'd be happy to declare my view on Northern Cyprus in a more politics-orientated forum.

The politics of Cyprus are long and complex, no doubt, but as to the question at hand which has to do with regging .nc.tr names:

Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to whether these sub-domains are still being registered, but...almost whichever way the Cyprus question resolves, the appropriate extension for northern Cyprus will change (either to the .cy extensions or something completely new). It is highly unlikely to ever be officially recognized as a sub-domain of .tr.

When you layer on the fact that we are talking about a pretty small place (about 200,000 people live there), one would assume that there are much safer emerging ccTLDs to make speculative domain registrations...

It does exist and like Gerrit pointed out they have their own government, parliament and legal system. Not sure what the Kurdish thing has anything to do with Gerrit's request. North Cyprus is not protected by the UN, but Turkish soldiers.
Your comparison with Al Qaeda is also baseless and is as nonsense as giving EOKA it's own extension .EO. I don't think this is the right forum for propaganda, so please post these kind of comments somewhere else at the site or at another political board.

But to be ontopic. I don't think, you can register them as the Northern Cyprus government also prefers the .com extension in most cases. Also, as far as I know Iana regulates the cc tld and not Icann. Another thing; it's not necessary to be officially recognised as a country to get your own tld, just like the Palestinian Authority got .PS for instance.
