These look like random numbers but are well known in the Chinese culture.

F.. F... F... !! i saw a real 7N gem on Sedo, it was offered at a quite cheap BIN ($600, priced a while ago already i guess) for it's value, but i still decided to send a lower offer of $488 (minimum accepted) instead..

Seller sent to auction instead and now there are several guys battling over that gem into the x,xxx range..
really stupid of me, sigh.. first and last time to count pennies when it comes to gems like 8888828.com

88's or 888's at the end of any level is a big deal. And even in the 7N category, 888 at the end is limited to 9,999 names... Far fewer when you ditch the 0's and 4's.

At the same time, normal to note that GoDaddy expiring auctions generally end up with inflated prices that you won't see in a normal auction or here in the forums.

yup.. i think that auction speaks volumes about the general upside potential of such premium number domains, no matter the length (as long as reasonable, around 5-9N..).. one of the hottest investment vehicles right now to generate a nice ROI before the entry prices get too high..

4 n combinations such as this can mean quite a lot (although don't ask me exactly what! There's a handy little grid which shows what each number from 1 - 10 signifies, and therefore what "sentences" can be created with combinations, but I forget what site I saw it on).

My belief is that the current obsession for "8" and particularly for multiple 8s in a row is making us miss the wood for the trees to some degree (also it's a saturated market) when the Chinese have so many other rich numerical combos for the taking (see here for examples).
