NNN.VC are all gone.
Did a random whois check on a few dozen, all registered by Chinese domainers in December 2015 - January 2016.

I also did a random availability check on ~1000 LLL.VC, and they're all registered, also by Chinese domainers mostly in January 2016. Don't know if all CHIPs are bought out though. I don't have the time and the tool to do all the checking.

1) Nope. Many are registered at Dynadot ($38.99 each), 1API GmbH, Gandi, etc.
