Somebody bid on a generic NNN .mobi I have listed at Sedo, but the price is nowhere near the high XXX/low X,XXX that these things usually sell for.

What I have noticed though is that the lowest a NNN auction starts the higher it ends - presumably because many more people join the bidding at lower prices.

I also noticed that the lowest prices for NNN .mobis achieved at Sedo are those that had gone to auction with a single bid above US $600/$800.

Here is the question: do you think I can rely on the emerging liquidity at Sedo to take care of an obviously underpriced NNN.mobi?

My concern is that the current bid is $200, and visually a low XXX may not be different enough from a high XXX number to attract enough bidders for a fair price to be achieved.

In other words I think a very similar domain will probably sell for more if it is sent to auction at US$ 60 or whatever the minimum is these days.

What do you think - is it worth taking the risk of potentially selling myself short?

Domains with low reserves attract bidders. Send the name to auction and let the market decide.

Fully agree. In fact my only concern above is whether the current bid on this one is low enough, or whether it would be better to wait until somebody makes an even lower offer (on this one or any of the other NNN.mobis that I have) and then send it to auction.

$200 is not that high ... it's still on the low side

I am not sure this would be the right strategy for you, but I can bid 60$ if you want.

LOL, it's amazing that such posts make it through the decency filters - and yes, it was funny while it lasted.

Just out of curiosity, isn't the software supposed to prevent such things appearing in the first place (I think this particlular spam post lasted at least five minutes)?

Yeah, move on- in response to your original point, i too have found that the highest sales at auction usually go to those with the nerve to list names with extremely low reserves/starting point. If I was you, I'd consider sending it to auction, over 7 days (ppl lose interest in longer auctions IMHO) with the price you have been bid this time. I had a superb LLL.NET for sale recently, with a reserve of $1000, still way under the name's value, but the name never sold as once bidding reached 'minimum wholesale' -I think people expected the reserve to be met around the $500 mark. Also, it always depends on who's online when, with the funds and inclination to purchase, which is obviously out of your control.
I expect if you were to list, it would still sell for high $xxx, low $xxxx, as that appears to have become the current value of most NNN.mobi
