The domain is 2nd in Google when "NintendoWii" is typed, and 170th when "Nintendo Wii" is typed. It has no content, and It only has a couple links to it so far. It could easially get in the top 10 search results.

I'm selling it on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9727772290 for $5,000. I'm not betting it'll get sold, but figured I'd give it a try.

I know there is the TM issue, but what do you think its worth? Some say nothing, others $10,000+... So.. what do you think?

Your quite right about the TM issue, and because of that this domain really is worth nothing but a letter from Nintendo's lawyers.

Now that google listed it, I'm getting about 150 people a day from people typing nintendowii in google, and about 30 other type ins a day. I'm going to develope it if it doesn't sell for 5,000. I'll be so Nintendo Friendly that they'll have no reason to waste time to go after me. I can hope .

If I can make a popular website it'd make them look bad if they shut it down. So I guess I have to get started soon. already working on building links, and will have a new design/content up soon.

Well I could probably get $1500 for a bag of heroin, but that doesn't make it legal. And increases the risk of loosing everything greatly.

What if you did set up an awsome site with tons of traffic, etc. Then Nintendo decides they want it? What then? (speaking from an end user standpoint). I guess they could use the great name untill they did have to give it up, then just re-direct there traffic to a lesser DN??

With regards copyrights, Nintendo have a good reputation of never having served CND letters to owners of domains containing their trademarks. So long as the site doesn't make any false claims of being associated with Nintendo, or be used in a derogatory sense, then I don't see reasons why there'd be a problem.

There was actually an interview with one of their PR guys about the rush of Wii domain registrations following the name change, wish i'd bookmarked it now considering... however from what I recall they see this flurry of internet activity as a positive thing.

What that does have to do with the value of the domain? I don't disagree with any of that, but that illegal bag of heroin still has a value of $1500 right? Just because it is an illegal bag of heroin, doesn't mean it has no value.

Therefore, just because Wii is a trademark, doesn't mean it has no value.

Nintendo are a good company, they are not money grabbing and are happy to let people run websites using their trademarks to promote their products. I imagine if you use it to promote a 'Wii Sucks' message or the like then you would have a nice cease and desist letter but otherwise they are very leniant.
