That didnt really explain what an SEO was or how i could use it.
Hmmm...maybe this will help.
In a nutshell, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of designing the layout of your web page(s) so that when search engines "crawl" your website for keywords, your website will look better to them, and thus return your page at the top of the results list.
For example:
You have a website about Domain Names.
Someone Googles "Domain Names"
Google's spider crawled your site and determined that the arrangement of the words on your site is the most suitable page for the keyword "Domain Name" so it returns your site as the top result.
This is just one small example and there is a ton more that goes into it.
How can this help you?
Millions upon millions of people search for websites with search engines every day. If you are within the top results for highly searched keywords (which you can find with the overture links I gave you a couple of posts up) then you can expect to get some nice (Read: FREE) traffic from these search engines. That's just that much less advertising you have to do, which means you can focus on creating more content for your website.
