New Webmaster Forum

Hey guys I just posted a new webmaster forum. I was wondering if you all could review it and tell me what you think I could do to improve its viability. My sites link is in my signature. Also, could you all tell me the benefits of switching to vBulletin over using my current design? Thanks for the input.

Hey Zhalefarin,

It’s nice but it doesn’t contain anything that stands out to me or that makes your forum "Webmasters Development" worth remembering. I’m not sure how long it took you to set up this forum. But it feels to me you just got your hands on it, installed it, and that was it. I think you need to work customizing your forum to stand out in the sea of other forums of simular subject matter. Create your own colour scheme, perhaps create your own web 2.0 logo and some Icons for your forum, this would help a lot to bring its own identify to your forum and would also help promote the idea of having a more in-depth web development forum and your readers would be more inclined to come back.

SMF at its best. Indeed, you need to customize the forum, or you'll go under in the webmaster world. Especially since you're targeting a group that understands the web and it's possibilities in regards to design, you've got to step it up a bit. The problem is, if you're not well versed in designing SMF skins, you're pretty much lost. The way out could be a contest on your own board, have your users submit their own design ideas, or pick one of the many free themes up and customize it a bit.
Take a peek at www.IntelBank.com - we've just changed the CSS table of the default skin and arrived at the current design. ( i didn't do it personally, my technical partner did )
