.tv New tld.ext. TEL - It can be misleading to our TV!?

TEL -for telephone or television ? primary for phone I guess ,but it could be for both.

TEL -for telephone or television ? primary for phone I guess ,but it could be for both.

It has no potential overlap or no uses that are even similar to any TLD, it simply replaces telephone numbers since voip has no need for analog rotary phones. Remember when you had to spin the rotary wheel in the olden days, each time the wheel went by a number it clicked, indicating what number it was dialing, that was analog, now that everything is digital this is that last part of phasing out dead technology i.e. phone numbers are dead!

TV is THE worldwide acronym for 'television', not TEL.
I would worry for the .mobi extension, intuitive and shorter .Tel will be a killer.

LOL did you read what .Tel does - It is not for hosting a site- it replaces your phone number, it cant kill .Mobi or .Tv or any other extension.

For sure, its an extension and could kill some uses of .mobi as they proclaim about .mobi. Not even close to touch .TV

Lol no problem, I guess I know a bit but maybe less than you. It is intended for use on MOBILE telephones, it will include many easy to use personal otions but first and foremost it will allow the users to reach from their mobile a service from any Internet business. You are right we can't compare .tel with .mobi as its use/mission is so distinct and so specific from the conventional top level domains, and I have to agree my word "killer" is a bit strong. I do not think there will be an overlap between the two extensions for the good reason that the public (I am not talking about domainers) will very promptly adhere to it, as I am quite sure they will see .tel as THE big thing ('gadget' or 'tool' as they wish) for their mobiles, the future craze for it will not help at all .mobi to get off the curtain to be seen as THE mobile extension and to gain in popularity.

• Conflict with IP addressing (IPv4 or IPv6), the PSTN or SS7 systems, or with current or future ENUM implementations.

• Overlap or conflict with any existing top-level domain and their value-chains.

• Allow numeric-only domains to be registered, and therefore will not conflict with any national or international telephone numbering plan
