New Media Trademark Strategy?

With the shift to new media, CityFile.com has taken an interesting traffic aquisition strategy: buying up the names of celebrities is cover, in .com, of course. Can they seriously believe this is a good investment?

I was never sure about regging a whole name(I can understand if it's a celebrity or well known name for fansite) I have a few first and last names but no whole names...Unless there's traffic or they can resell to that one person, I see no value in these. On the other hand, most of these people are millionaires/billionaires so even if they can sell for XX - XXX$ and get any profit, more power to them. Seems like a waste of time since we all have bigger fish to fry, to each their own.
