A question from a new guy:

After you are done designing your website on say Dreamweaver or someone, how do you transfer these files onto the internet, after you have bought your domain name. I am currently almost finished designing my website on M dreamweaver, and I will buy a domain name soon. What is the procedure necesssary to transfer my DW files onto the Internet.

Thanks

yes, first u need a host. dreamweaver has sorta an ftp built in to it.. you would go to manage sites and enter ur server info.. which ur server admin or whoever would give you. test ur connection and go from there. to upload to the server u would first create a folder with all the files u want uploaded. go to manage sites and choose new ftp rds server, like i said b4 ur admin will provide u with the info u need to fill out here.. test ur connection, if it works ur set to go. when u want to upload to the server right click and synchronize. its hard to try to explain this, it would be easier in person to show u but thats not exactly gonna happen.. hope u figure this out by the explaination i have given.. :)

You can either use the in-built Dreamweaver upload feature (which I haven't used, but should D-: ) or use an FTP program and upload your files from there.

I use WS_FTP LE. I don't think you can get it any more, its old, but one of the best I know of. All of their new stuff is rubbish.

Well, its up to you. I use outside FTP, others use the in-built Dreamweaver function, your choice!

Sometimes i use the in-built DreamweaverMX 2004 function, and sometimes i use outside FTP,for example:CutFTP is ok.But Now I think DW's ftp more fast ,more easy .after modified the files, u can instance upload it to ur ftp server.and also ,u can edit files online.

for simple uploading the easiest thing is to use the dreamweaver ftp. (assuming you already have dreamweaver open) why bother going through another program when all you need to do is press one button.

i'm a bit confused here, for my site i dont need any special software for that, i just go to ftp.mysite.com and could drag and drop etc. why do you need special software for that.
in general i use dreamweaver's ftp anyways, i mean how much easier could you get than just pressing ctrl+shift+u? why even bother with external applications???
