New for the 2nd Time

Hi Guys,
I did a little bit of domaining about 6 or so years ago and want to try and get back involved. I sold a couple of domains for very little and did not really make any money. I have been reading on NP again and am overwhelmed by how much domaining has changed and how little I know and I feel like I will never get up to speed to try and make it financially worthwhile.
Just looking for some advice really on where to start again and some do's and dont's ?

Some of the time constraints that I was under have been lifted so I have a bit more time. Also with the recession that has battered my country, trying to earn a couple of extra quid would be most welcome
