I've compile a listing of the various directories which I use to submit my sites to and found them to be useful in getting traffic and page rank.

This site currently contains 161 directories and a simple interface to help you submit to the relevant directories.
Why submit manually ? Automatic submission programs' entries may be rejected by the search engines and considered as spam. Hand-submitted directory submission services does not allow you the free hand to select which directory, category or details you want to submit. Doing it manually would take a few hours but the results is definitely worthwhile.
It is free for private individuals and submission of your own site. If you are running a submission service and submitting for your customers, you can use this site but it is not free, you are required to send us a small donation per site you submit. We run this site on a honor basis.
