Network Solution & Snapnames interaction w/drops & backorders

I wanted to confirm the specifics regarding Snapnames' partnership with NetSol.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't NetSol automatically offer all of their domains to Snapnames before the domains expire (sort of like how GD, WWD, and BR automatically send their expiring domains to TDNAM before the domains drop)? NetSol doesn't actually backorder any domains themselves, correct?

Netsol as you know have a partnership with Snap - so, if any snap customers have placed a backorder with for one of their expiring names then it basically gets passed to them - ie: all other drop companies will not have any chance to get it.

On the otherhand - If no snap customers have placed a backorder for it then it will expire as normal (as far as I know from the register) and other drop companies have a chance to fight for it.

Netsol does advertise on its website that you can backorder their names but it is just a referral link that goes to snapnames, they handle it from there.

I remember reading an old article about netsol hoarding the domains that used to drop but i don't think they do that anymore.

Thanks for the confirmation. That's how I thought it worked, but I just wanted to double check.

I think there is an exception to this - I remember KJel (from snapnames) said a while ago that if the name has gone into PendingDelete and nobody has placed a backorder then it is too late to guarentee snap will get it if you do place an order on it.

Words to that effect.....I'll try and find the post tomorrow as its 2 am here and my brains stopped workingb

Gazzip, tried to leave you positive rep points, but it looks like I can't because I've already repped you recently.

Thanks for the post though.

Just curious, but why the random curiosity?

(Also, check your snap account for the "Priority partner Terms and Conditions" for even more info on this relationship - and the special terms, etc.)

I've got a particular domain I'm watching that is regged at NetSol and appears that it won't be renewed. I'm trying to strategize what my best option is for securing the domain with a backorder.

I think I will be sending through a backorder on Snap just to be certain that I can atleast get in an auction for the domain. It would be a calculated risk not to backorder at Snap and hope that another backordering service could get the domain for me (assuming no one else backordered the domain at Snap).

If it's getting close, check the "Advanced Auction" section of domaintools.

I've never seen any name on the first three pages (That I've bid on) for a certain day ordered by rank NOT get a bid.

IOW - big risk thinking that you're the only one that sees the value.

If it's on the first page listed by rank or by age or by length, it's almost certainly going to be snap-fodder.

It would be big risk IMO if you really want the name.

An interesting detail about Netsol's arrangement with Snapnames is they allow
registrants to opt-out of the arrangement as long as they follow their process.
It's all detailed in netsol's deletion policy.

Let's put it this way: the registrar is in a position to do something from the time
the domain name has expired up to the last few days of redemption period, and
that's if we're talking about CNOBI domain names. It's too late when the domain
name reaches Pending Delete.

In your case, Fonzie, place a backorder with Snapnames as long as the domain
name in question has expired with Netsol but won't be renewed. Their grace is
about 35 days IIRC, but again check their deletion policy to be sure.

I'm going to make sure to cover my bases on this one. I'm backordering at Snap and Pool and GD (just in case there is a glitch in the system and the domain actually drops). No reason to play with fire on this one... I've had my eye on this domain for the past 3 years.

I've often wondered if that would alert others that it was dropping and then they might think the same way as you and place a backorder at snap too !

No idea if it does though, good luck %%-
