I was wondering peoples opinions of netfirms.
Do you have names registered there?
Would you buy a name private sale registered at netfirms?
If somoone had an auction of a name at netfirms would you be less likely to put down a bid if tit was reg'd there?
Any problems with down time or customer service?
I have over 100 names there,never had a problem,but want to sell some and unsure of the process.
They have domain names for 4.95 and all names have free whois protection,which is very big thing for me as I dont want my name all over the internet.
I know with registrant transfer of .ca domain names takes longer due to the process of CIRA and such has taken as long as 5 days to transfer.

What are your 3 top registrars?

there seems to be quite difference in prices,was looking into yahoo domain names cheap first year then 34.95 a year after that ouch.
Also would like to know if say you,ya you wanted to buy a name but was at netfirms,would you consider that i transfer to goodaddy before we would make the deal.
I am also willing to sell Ozonemanagement.com(reg'd at netfirms) for 1.49 to learn the process of transfering ownership of a name reg'd at netfirms.
Share your opinions please and if you are interested in the 1.49 salepost sold so i can learn the process.

Quite honestly,

I have heard and read so many horror stories dealing with netfirms.com that I wouldn't go within 5 miles of there services/system. If you do a search on here you'll come up with quite a few horror stories of not being able to remove payment methods...having your stuff sent to collection agencies and much much worse!

I have about 40 domains there, and am satisfied. Process of push is little bit different, but anyway it is easy. Transfer out is not a problem.
So i think there should not be a problem to sell some domain which is registered there. I sold a few without a problem.

I think that 4.95 is just a promo good for like 5 domains per user/credit card. Their regular price is about 7.99.

I have more than 100 domains with Netfirms also. Haven't had any issues with them, except that they took so long to respond to emails. But i haven't experienced any billing or transfer issues so far.

You just transfer out before your first year ends. Make sure you transfer way in advance, to give yourself enough time if transfer issues pop up. You went to Yahoo just for the first year pricing, right?

I dont have any domains there, but I have set up one simple web with them (*.netfirms.com) 13 years ago and it is still up and running, not bad for free service (I still have Y2K bug timer there, now it goes something like "Time left until Y2K Bug blow up this server: - (minus) 10 years, 11 months, 44 days... " )

Thanks everyone for your opinions.Everyone has or had different experience.I still hate having to pay goodaddy extra for whios where it is free at netfirms.I use the advantage plan for the domains I figure are worth deveping.The stupid ones I have a second control panel for them and expiring namess too.I always tried to stay away from godaddy but had to deal with a situation at 3am pacific time and it was resolved very quickly.
Ya sometimes Norman is slow with his emails,I always picture the guy from cheers when i see the email is from him but thats a whole different story.Keep your opinions coming.Thanks
