Net body (ICANN) issues plea for liberty

The overseer of the net's addressing system has asked the US government to be freed from official control.

Icann made the plea in a lengthy report sent to the US Department of Commerce.

US give up control??? Rubbish. Won't happen.

Tell me, if it was some other government out there that had essential control over the entire internet, do you think they would give it up? Why would they? It'd be idiotic. Almost treasonous.
